Chapter 2
"Lani!" I heard my mother call from downstairs. "Are you ready? "
"Coming, mom!" I yelled back. I ran downstairs where my parents were waiting for me. I almost forgot that we were going to the house of a family friend. After I went inside the car, my father drove us to their friend's place.
When we got there, I immediately noticed the house. Not that big as our house but it was presentable enough and appealing to the eye. After we stood in front of their front step and pressed the doorbell, a guy who was around my parents' ages went to open the door to greet us.
"Long time no see," he said before hugging my parents. He then invited us inside his home. "Dalton! Come here,"
"Dalton?" I didn't realize that I spoke it loudly for everyone to hear.
"My son," he smiled at me. Dalton? Wasn't that name too familiar for my liking? Now...where did I hear that name before? Surely, many people had his name, right?
Oh, who was I kidding? I bet that he was the only Dalton in town. I meant that there was not that many people who would name their son after a chemist. I got my confirmation when he went downstairs. His blonde hair and eyeliner were enough proofs that he was the guy from yesterday. When his eyes landed on me, his eyes caught quick shock. "You," he blurted out.
"Me," I tried acting cool. I turned around to look at my parents. "Mom, Dad, it seems like Dalton and I are going to be great friends, why don't we just hang out with each other for today?"
"Good idea," my mom nodded. And with that, I ran towards Dalton and grabbed his hand to drag him outside the house. It really helped me when he didn't struggle or else...my parents were going to notice that something was up with me.
When we were a little far away from the house, he immediately spoke, "Your parents don't know everything about you, huh?"
"Obviously..."
I avoided eye contact but I felt his eyes staring my guts out of me. "Where's the ring?" he asked me.
I raised my hand to eye level, "Here," I said. "Do you want me to return it back to you?"
"No," he told me without his eyes leaving my face, "You keep it,"
"Why...?"
"Why don't we just make a deal?" he smirked at me, and yeah, I knew that kind of smirk. It meant that he was planning something evil. I always did that kind of smirk whenever our gang had a perfect plan. "Are you up for it?"
"Do I have a choice...?"
"No," he paused then continued, "Here's the deal...I won't tell your parents about their perfect daughter being a gang member in one condition,"
"And what's that?" I asked curiously.
"You just need to do what I say an—"
"Wait, what?" I cleared. "Like a slave? Are you fucking kidding me?"
"Do I look like I'm kidding?" I looked straight into his eyes and saw seriousness hiding beneath them, "And you're going to pretend that you're my girlfriend,"
"That's bullshit," I cussed.
"What you did is bullshit," he counter-attacked.
"I don't really have a say on this, do I?"
"Not really..."
"How'd you know about me being the perfect daughter?" I asked him, remembering what he said a little not too while ago.
"My father told me all about you," I guessed that his father knew about me because he was working in the same company as my father. "My father and your parents were all friends when they were in high school," he continued to explain further.
"That explains it," I nodded. "So...what are we going to do now?"
"We're going to hang out with the rest of the band an—"
"Wait," I cut him off. "You're in a band?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "IM5,"
"I don't know you," I blurted out. I didn't really know IM5. I had never heard of that band before so having this kind of confusion was pretty normal.
"We're not that popular," he answered lightly. "But we're going to be,"
"Okay, sure," I breathed out. "Whatever floats your boat, Dalton,"
"You float in my boat, Lani," he grinned at me. I guessed that he pretty much knew of my name because his father told him. "Let's go, I can't wait for the guys to meet my new girlfriend,"
"Let me guess," I said. "You and your friends made a bet,"
He eyed me up and down, "How'd you know that?"
"Instincts," I told him then started to walk, "Let's go,"
"Not that way, princess," he spoke then pointed a finger at the opposite direction. "This way," and with a mocking smile that played on his lips, I knew that this was going to be a long day.
