Picture is Luxe.

"Don't do this, Luxey." Landon pleads as I move about my room. I'm packing my things as fast as I can to get the hell out of here. I look around the room, the walls are covered in pictures, all that I've taken. Pictures of Zac and I, of our friends, of my siblings, of nature, of everything. I look around for my camera, but it's nowhere in sight. Damn, I'll have to leave without it. There isn't time to look for it now.

"I just can't, Lan." I reply firmly and push aside my emotions. I will not change my mind about this. Early this morning I went to see Zari about finding a job for me that will take up a lot of time. Or even send me away for good. She was reluctant but she said I could go to London to help with a high profile case there.

I didn't care where it was, I just needed some place far away from here.

I can't stand to stay here and look at Zac and Layla together. I can't watch them be happy together. He was my boyfriend, my love, but now he has been stolen from me. By my own sister to make things worse.

"They screwed up," Landon defends for them, I roll my eyes. Screwed up? Yeah, they did, majorly.

Some things can't be forgotten.

"We'll miss you. Things won't be the same, and it's always so hard to lose a member." Landon tries again referring to the people we have lost throughout our time here. He thinks I should just stay and stick it out. He obviously doesn't understand the pain I'm going through right now.

The pain of losing your best friend and sister betraying me with my boyfriend.

I feel so stupid for trusting either of them.

I feel weak and vulnerable. But I also feel cold, I feel like shutting everyone out. They shouldn't go through this pain.

"You know I'll miss you too, and everyone else, except for, well, you know..." I trail off as I stuff more clothes into a large suitcase. I have to sit on it to make it shut."Besides I'll return, in time. I just need time. Also, I'm not dead Lan," I throw a glare in his direction.

"I guess," he mumbles. "I just feel torn, you and Lacey never fight." Landon takes a deep breath, "And this is something totally out of character for her, we both know that."

"I agree, but what's done is done, and it can't be taken back." I grab my bags and look around.  This room is just too much for me. I need to get out of here.

"I'll help you down to your car," Landon offers as he picks up my suitcase. I grab my purse and hurry out and down the stairs. Jaze and Macey are waiting on a couch,  of course they came to wish me goodbye.

"We"ll miss you, girl!" Jaze cries out as she gives me a hug. "Please don't drop off the face of the earth," she says quietly into my ear.

"It's so awful what happened, Luxe, you know that we're here for you." Macey says as she hugs me.

"I can't believe it even happened," Jaze adds.

"You're telling me," I mumble. "Look, I'll call you later, I have to catch my flight." I say looking at both of them and I feel my eyes start to water. These people are my only family, I'll miss them. I grew up with them, we basically raised each other. I look around at their faces memorizing them. They could be gone any day, with the dangerous work that we do. We all say goodbye again and then Landon walks me out.

Landon and I walk through the building and up into the garage area. A lot of the building is underground. It's safer that way. We make it over to a sleek black car, with a driver waiting in it,  and throw my bags in the back.

Landon crushes me into a hug.

"Come back to us, Luxey." He says into my hair.

"I'll try," but will I really? "Keep me updated, although I'll probably be listening in from time to time," I tap my ear to indicate my comms unit. We can hear each other from the whole way across the country.

"Love you," Landon ruffles my hair and then I slide into the backseat waiting for this heartache to go away.

*****************************

Suddenly I am surrounded by British accents. Quite a change from my American home.

I pull my luggage along as I walk to the London Headquarters. I opted to walk rather than take a cab, taking some time to clear my head. I couldn't be a mess when I went into Headquarters, they would think that I'm a total nutcase. I know absolutely nothing about the case that I will be working on so I will have to be on my toes for anything that they throw at me.

The building that I arrive at looks like a government building, but it is a disguise. I make my way to the elevator and press the red button, otherwise known as the emergency button. However, this button will bring me below ground to Headquarters.

The elevator doors open to a plain, white room. I take a moment to assess the situation, seeking for a special button and cameras throughout the room.

"State your identification number." an automated voice announces.

"081510"

"Please proceed, Miss Voss and welcome to London." Across the room part of the wall slides away revealing a room of people and computers. I step through taking in all of my surroundings. I feel the presence of someone appear behind me. I whirl around to find a woman, taller than I with dark eyes and dark hair. Her eyes are kind and welcoming despite her intimidating size.

"Hello," she extends her hand and I shake it. "I'm Jessica."

"Pleasure," I respond.

"I will take you to Jeremiah." Jessica leads me through the room and down a hallway to an office much like my own boss Zari's office. A man sits in his chair looking at the computer screen. He looks to be about mid fifty, way past his prime of going on missions. When people age they are given jobs that do not require as strenuous activity compared to what the younger people do.

Jeremiah looks up, "Ah, Miss Voss." He stands and shakes my hand. "Welcome to London. I see that you have made it safely here." I smile sweetly setting my luggage along the wall.

"Yes, thank you." I look at Jeremiah, waiting for him to go on.

He sits on the edge of the desk. "We have a case that Zari sent you here to work on. We have been working on it for a few weeks now and would love a new set of eyes on it. Jessica will give you your chip to give you all of the information about it and also a laptop for your use while you are with us." Jessica beams with pride. She must be a defect and is absolutely happy to be able to do something to help everyone else.

A defect is someone that really does not do well with any part of our organization. In order to succeed one must be physically fit, extremely smart, and possess many abilities that normal everyday people do not even think about. The people that try to go through our system and are not able to usually serve in more lower class things like secretaries or assistants. The ones who really do not fit have their memories wiped of the organization and are then sent back into everyday society.

I nod along to Jeremiah and then strolls in a guy my age.

"Did you find my ass to be a nice view?" I ask boldly. The guy looks at me startled at first, and then he glosses it over with a lazy smile.

"Not sure what you mean, miss." He responds to me, playing stupid.

"Oh, please. I noticed you trailing me as soon as I left the airport." I rolled my eyes. No one gets past me.

Jeremiah smirks at our exchange, "Miss Voss, this is Roman. He is working on the same case that you will be." Roman stares at me with a smile on his face and suddenly I feel the emotions of last night.
I need to get out of here.

"Can someone show me my room, please?"
