Troye had gone back to the Franta's practically every other day, but he wasn't able to find anything new. No journal, no letters, no Connor. He couldn't find anything.
That is, of course, until Troye went back on July 11th, this time going into the office right outside Connor's room. Despite having 3 siblings the office was practically Connor's second room. Troye mentally slapped himself for not going in here sooner.
As he walked in, the first thing we looked for was a certain picture. It was a picture of Troye and Connor on Connor's sixteenth birthday. They were standing on Connor's porch, Connor's arm around Troyes shoulders as they both smiled at the camera. It was Connor's favorite photo of the two, so he framed it and placed it next to his beloved mac.
But as soon as Troye walked in, the first thing he noticed was the picture frame. Inside the blue frame wasn't the picture he had hoped to see, rather a picture that caused Troye's heart to fall out of his chest.
Instead of it being a picture of the two best friends, it was a picture of sunflowers. In fact, it was the picture of sunflowers that Connor had taken the night before he went missing. The picture that Connor had specifically told Troye to remember him by.
"If you ever need something to remember me by, make sure it's this picture"
Troye replayed Connor's words in his head. He felt like he was going to pass out. Connor was hinting at it the whole time. Connor was planning this.
Troye immediately grabbed the picture and ran out of the house as fast as possible. He had to tell Caspar what he had found.
__
Of course, just to Troye's luck, Tyler was over at Caspars as well. However, that couldn't ruin Troye's mood. This picture could be something that Troye has been waiting for. Hell, it could be his ticket to Connor.
After explaining to Caspar's mom that Troye just needed to talk to Caspar, she gratefully let the skinny boy in. He raced up into Caspar's room, avoiding the glare from Tyler.
"Casp" Troye said, out of breath. "Casp, l-look what I" He had to stop for a moment, trying to catch his breath.
"Spit it out, Mellet" Tyler stated, sassily. Troye just rolled his eyes and threw the picture frame to Caspar. "A picture?" Tyler sneered.
"The night Connor and I hung out, before he went missing" Troye started, moving his way over to the two friends lounging on chairs in Caspars room. "He took me to a sunflower field and to-took this picture." Troye explained further. This picture frame originally had a picture of Connor and I, but he replaced it with this one.
"...and?" Tyler asked, pressing Troye further.
"And" Troye mocked. "When he took this picture, he told me that this picture would be the picture I should remember him by."
"Wait, holy shit" Tyler said. "Did he actually say that?" Troye just nodded his head, making Tyler's eyes widen.
"So let me get this straight" Caspar spoke. "He posted a picture on Instagram of coffee, titled last one. Then he switched the pictures, grabbed the memory box, hopped on his bike, and left?" Caspar concluded. "Why would he do that?"
"Do you think I know?" Troye asked. "This whole thing is just so weird." Troye stated, earning nods from Tyler and Caspar. They all sat there in silence, Troye looking at the picture of sunflowers he held in his hand.
'Is the picture still in the frame?" Tyler spoke. "Like did he actually take the picture of you two out or did he just cover it with the sunflowers?" Troye was pleasantly surprised that Tyler had taken an interest in this, considering how convinced he was that Connor would be dead.
"Let me check" Troye breathed out, turning over the blue frame. Carefully, Troye turned the clasp holding the back to the frame together. Once they were all turned, Troye popped the back of the frame out, only to reveal a bit of cardboard.
Quickly, he removed the cardboard, revealing a white photo that was, sure enough the picture of the two boys standing on the porch.
That caught Tyler and Caspars attention as they 'awed' at the picture, almost in a mockingly way because they know about Troye's crush on Connor.
But that wasn't the thing that caught Troye's attention, oh no, something more great caught his attention. He slowly grabbed last remaining thing in the frame; the sunflower picture.
"Holy fuck" he gasped, dropping the frame. "Holy shit" Caspar and Tyler turned their attention away from Troye and collectively gasped in unison as they saw what Troye was swearing it.
"W-what is that?" Tyler asked, studying the piece of paper in Troye's hands.
"it's a-" Caspar started, only for Troye to finish.
"It's an address." Troye stated, hands beginning to shake. "Connor wrote an address on the back of the fucking picture."
1202 Easy Street
"Where is that?" Caspar asked, none of them recognized the street name hand written on the back of the picture.
"I'm googling it right now" Tyler replied, typing away on his phone. Troye couldn't even comprehend anything anymore. "it's just outside the county" Tyler concluded, showing Troye the phone.
"I have to go" Troye spoke up,. "Guy, what if this is where Connor is? I have to go"
"We'll go with you" Tyler chimed in, standing up. Caspar grabbed Tylers wrist and pulled him back down.
"No we won't, Ty. Troye has done this all by himself, he deserves to go a get Connor." Caspar stated.
"I'll be fine, Ty. But yeah, Caspar's right. I should do this alone."
And that's why Troye was currently standing in front of a small white house on Easy street with the numbers 1202 engraved on the side.
He stood there, looking at the red door that separated he and, hopefully, Connor. This was it.
All he had to do was knock. But he was hesitant, what if Connor wasn't there? What if the address was just to throw him off guard?
But alas, Troye built up the courage and slowly knocked on the front door three times.
Knock Knock Knock
And he waited. He waited and waited and waited until-
Until Troye was greeted by a smiling face of a lady with short blonde hair. Troye's heart sunk as he saw the women in front of him that he didn't recognize.
"How may I help you?" She asked, smile still spreading on her face.
"I-um, I must have the wrong house. My uh, friend, Connor wrote down this address and-"
Her face dropped at the mention of Connor and she immediately began to shut the door. "I don't know a Connor"
"Wait" Troye pleaded, putting his foot in the door in order for it to stop. "Um, if you do actually know Connor, can you tell him Troye stopped by?" Troye asked, holding back his tears because fuck he was so close to finding Connor. So close to being able to hold Connor in his arms.
"Wait, you're Troye?" She asked, opening the door more to continue the conversation. "Hold on, wait here" and with that, she shut the door again and left Troye sitting under the summer sun.
He began to breathe heavily because holy shit this was it. He thought I'm going to see Connor again. Troye couldn't tell if he was nervous or excited to see the boy he loved so dearly.
But soon all those butterflies swarming around in his stomach disappeared when he heard that oh so calming voice. The voice that he hasn't heard in 4 months ring through his ears.
"Troye?"
