Chapter Five: Do Something

Why I drove to his house, I'll never know. Why I actually got out of the car, walked up to the front door and knocked is beyond me. Why my heart thudded double time when Aaron opened the door, I don't know. "Payton?" He glanced behind him quickly, and then turned back to me. "What are you doing here?" I shifted my weight from foot to foot, wringing my hands together. I mumbled and 'sorry' and turned on my heels, heading for my car. "Hey wait a second," Aaron reached out and grabbed my forearm.

"I'm sorry, I don't know why I came here. I'm just so confused about everything and you're the only one who knows, I mean besides Clarissa obviously, but I mean I just don't get it. And now I know about Aunt Sally and everything is just blowing up and I feel like my head might explode and it's difficult to breathe and I can't --"

"Hey," Aaron inturrupted me. "Maybe it's hard to breathe because you're rambling," he chuckled.

I took a deep breath. "Sorry," I say again. I looked down at my feet. Wet blades of grass stuck to my skin and the sides of my flip flops. It was then I realized that I was still wearing my pajama bottoms with ice cream cones printed all over them and the large baggy t-shirt that I wore to bed the night before. How embarrassing. I ran a hand through my hair and looked up at Aaron.

"Do you want to come inside?" I hesitate for a moment. Do I? Yes. Do I really? No... yes.

      "I really shouldn't I don't know why I even --"

"A, what are you doing? Who's at the door?" A female voice sounded from the house. My breath caught in my throat. There were no cars in the driveway, besides Aarons. His mom's at work. His sister lives in Massachusetts with her fiancee. That only left me with one option. And I didn't like it.

Aarons lips formed a tight line, but I could see the way his eyes lit up when he heard her voice. "I'm gunna go, okay? Just... just forget I was here," I smiled and started making my way to my car again.

"Payton, please. Just come inside." He wants me to come inside? Is he insane? He wants me to come inside while his 'Soulmate' is in there. If I go inside I'm going to be the awkwarde ex-girlfriend third wheel. No one wants to be the awkward ex-girlfriend third wheel. And if you do, you have some serious problems, my friend. "Payton."

I ended up inside, sitting on the couch, feeling like a stranger in the house that I've been in millions of times before. "Aaron who was at the -- oh, hi," she smiled at me. I wanted to hate her, but I could already tell it'd be impossible. She looked perfect. Perfect straight hair, perfect skinny body, perfect clear skin. How much you wanna bet she has the perfect personality and it's going to be impossible for me to be nasty because she's going to be so nice. "I'm Sienna," She stuck out her hand and I shook it loosely.

"Payton," I say and Sienna glances at Aaron.

"I'm going to make myself something for lunch." She glances from Aaron to me and back. "Do you guys want anything?"

"No thanks," Aaron says and I shake my head. Sienna leaves and I'm left with Aaron who sits across from me in the arm chair.

      "She's pretty."

Aaron nods with a small smile. "So, what's up Payton?"

I rub the back of my neck, remembering the burning sensation I felt as I left the house. "The plane crash," I say and he nods. "I just... There was a guy, with that tattoo and, that lady, Jane Dawson and her tattoo and... and Dustin. And the dates they just end up on the back of my neck and I can't do anything about it because if I do I'll end up in the looney bin and die, I don't even know how I would or could do anything to stop it I just --"
