Okie, so later down in this chapter, there will be some swear words. Read with caution.
Chapter 5
*Josie's POV Included*
The drive home to the family's house was a long one since they don't live close at all to the school. When the Marquis children picked the school as their first choice, they didn't take address into consideration. From the school of their dreams, the two siblings were already growing up all too quickly as Joseph was ready to write his exams and move off and study abroad, away from the chaos of Benedict Hall High. Joseph's life-long dream was to study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Josie was nearly there and she wanted to become a paediatrician in London. Therefore, having to study and move abroad also. To have the feeling as if you're starting off new was a sensation Josie longed for. It was the feeling of breathing in the cool air in the streets of London, the feeling of being a new person without anyone to know her or ridicule her, the feeling of turning a new leaf and most of all...The feeling of paradise as she can say to her self "I've made it."
The father parked up the small but comfy Nissan into the simple concrete driveway. The slanted galvanise roof protected the car from cooking up. The white door with almost impossible to open, it covered with a burglar-proof gate. A bulky lock sealing the gate shut. It took some time getting the right method to open the door and enter their household.
Josie took no hesitation to sprint up the stairs with the heavy "luggage" on her back after her father opened the door. The stairs were covered in a scruffy taupe carpet, iron rod railings coming out from the sides of the walls, like every standard staircase. The walls were a dull and meek cream hue. The shade looked to that of hummus or whole wheat bread. The house was almost bedazzled in a/c vents.
She raced up into her lavender room. The lilac walls were the calming part of her room, her light pale brown nightstand with one drawer next to the soft and lush bed. The lamp on her short nightstand had a soft but radiant glow. The white light spread as far as ever.
"Guess I forgot to turn off the light..." She blankly noted, her voice echoing through the room.
The party was tomorrow and after a long hard day of work, her parents were sure as hell not going to drive her anywhere to get her a dress that'll probably end up at the back of her closet. With that thought in her mind, she rummaged through her closet to find a dress. After practically emptying her closet, she found a dress.
Her dress was plain white and strapless. The fabric was tight, capturing every tiny feature. The dress stopped just above her knees. She looked like she was attending a funeral. But it'll have to do since she had nothing else. Josie slipped on the dress, trying it on. She looked in the mirror and sighed. The last time she wore this was at her cousin's wedding reception. Two years ago...
"I never thought I'd have to put this on again..." She shamefully spoke.
Quickly, she took of the dress and went to take a warm bath. Grabbing her towel and bathrobe, she headed towards her bathroom. The bathroom was covered in white tiles. Everything was white. It wasn't her choice but she got used to it over time. From white bathtubs, white doors, white floors, white granite vanity and white sink. All that was missing was white padded walls to complete this asylum-like room.
Stepping into the shower, the handle made a high pitched squeak as Josie allowed water to flow. Soon, hot water showered upon Josie like heavy rain. She just stood there, exhausted by all the day's work. She couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the party. "Was Joseph coming?" was the question that boggled her brain. She ran her fingers through her damp hair.
