Today is Senior picture day and I'm so nervous, anxious all of the above! My friends aren't making it any better pushing me to talk to my crush Carter aka Jacket. He wears jackets or sweaters all year long never takes them off. I've wondered what is this bad boy secret he's keeping under that jacket of his.
"You need to stop staring and go get him! Seriously Aria." Madey started her daily ranting after catching me staring at Carter.
"What if he doesn't like me? I kind of like my safe blanket I'm hiding under right now."
"I told you I can always get Jacob to find out for you."
"But if he liked me he would have made a move already. He's made a move on other girls."
"I guess Aria. Don't look now, he's actually staring at you."
"What oh gosh what do I do?!"
"Aria Anders?" The photographer called my name.
"GO! Go take your pictures that's what you do!" Madey slightly pushed me.
I smiled an incredibly big smile with my braces showing exactly how I want them to. My curls began to fall over my face and I could tell the photographer was getting aggravated.
"Your glasses and braces are sending a glare into the camera. I can barely focus your face under your hair. Can you fix these issues and come back later?" The camera guy rudely said making me feel terrible.
"Um yeah."
"I'll call your name later please return when you're done." I wanted to cry but I couldn't. I knew all of the seniors would laugh and I can't afford to be the laughing stock of this senior year.
Instead of ruining myself there in that spot I walked over to get my bag off of the table. At this moment I wanted to run but Carter noticed me before I could look away.
"Nice glasses, Aria right?" He pointed at me.
"Was that an insult?" I squinted my eyes ready to explode all over his incredible, irresistible-
"No it was a legit compliment. Are they prescription? I'd love to have that style."
"Oh yeah, they are. Thanks"
"No problem. I'm Carter aka Jacket by the way, I don't think we ever actually met." He stuck his hand out and I put my sweaty shaking hand in his cupping his palm.
"Nice to officially meet you Carter."
"How did your pictures go?"
"Oh uh, I have to retake them." I looked down at my nails letting my shyness show again.
"Why what happened? You were smiling really big like it was going great. "
"I thought it was but the photographer didn't think the same. My hair is to big for him, my glasses and braces glare at him as he said, basically he wants me to change into a Barbie with to much makeup and thin hair."
He looked at me then squinted his eyes. He put his pointer finger up indicating me to wait as I watched him walk to the camera man. I was confused and very nervous. While he was talking to the camera man I grabbed my bag and walked out to the girls bathroom, couldn't believe I had just talked to my crush!!
After I got done freaking out in the bathroom I decided I wanted to take my glasses off and put on my contacts. My teeth are straight under my braces so I'll smile how I want to! And how dare he say my hair is to big?! My curls shall forever be full of volume! Instead of lip gloss, this time I'll spice it up a bit with my favorite mocha lipstick. Never do I ever look this good at school, sometimes change is good for the soul. With that being said I'm changing out of my sneakers into my heels. I'm nervous but I have to overcome my shyness right? Here we go.
