The Snow Ferrets and the Shinju Necklace (completed)

Chapter 13

After we pretty much tell our entire story to Terro's parents, they say with a firm nod we should get some sleep after everything we've been through and tell us to go upstairs and sleep in Kin's room and the guest bedroom, but not to go to the last room on the right.

As we walk upstairs, I turn Terro curiously, "What's in the last room on the right?'

Terro huffs and rolls his eyes as he answers, "Not what, but who. Just my stupid brother who is always hiding out in his room."

Terro sighs, looking at the slab of perfect wood that contains his brother, a sad glint in his eyes, "I guess nothing's changed since I've been gone."

I feel a twinge of pity for Terro. He must feel like he lost his brother.

After biding each other good night, we split and the boys go to Terro's room while the girls go to the guest room. We all decided that Neve should get the bed and the rest of us sleep on the ground with blankets and pillows.

"So....what do you guys think about Terro's little secret? I didn't even notice that the people at the party weren't his parents!" Ignis exclaims.

"Yeah.....I don't think I've never even seen him around Kinzoku." Kin says, her brow wrinkled as she concentrates, clearly trying to remember if she had seen him.

"I don't know.....that was very mean of him. How must his parents feel!" Neve chimes in.

"Did you see how hard they guilt-tripped him? Obviously they did not like it!" Ignis says to Neve with her eyebrows raised.

"Well, I'm going to sleep. Good night guys." Vieni yawns, stretching her arms above her head.

"Me too." Kin sighs.

"Night." We chorus back as they roll over and not another sound comes from them.

We only speak a little longer after they fall asleep before we all end up doing the same as them, soft snores fluttering around the room like a cage of silent butterflies released into the room.

The next morning, I wake up first and lay on the ground for a little bit before Vieni awakes, soon followed by everyone else.

We walk downstairs together and see that Terro and his parents are sitting at the table, eating and talking, all three of them seeming very comfortable.

"Hey Terro!" Vieni chirps, skipping over to the table.

The boy turns and his eyes widen as he sees our small group of girls, "Wow, you all woke up at the same time?"

We all give him a weird look and he shrugs, "Never mind, forget I said anything. Take a seat." He says, changing the subject.

We all do and start eating toast as the rest of the boys slowly file down the stairs and into the room. As more and more people come in, a soft conversation starts, but the tension is high. We still don't know if Terro's parents will help us.

Once everyone is at least halfway through a piece of toast, Terro's mother puts her cup of coffee down and looks around at us. We all hold our breath, wondering what she is about to say.

"I think we can help you." She says, initiating deep breaths of relief to fill the room.

Terro's mother, quite a pretty lady, smiles in amusements while Terro's father, a broad, sturdy man says, "We can lend you some supplies, but we can't help you through Kinzoku."

I look at the others, curious as to how they react. Ignis cocks her head slightly, Anemos nods like he expected this, and Nero sighs, but other than that everyone else just looks a little less relived than before.

And I agree, I mean, at least we're getting supplies and not being turned in, right?

"If I can suggest something, however. I would recommend that you take today to plan something out and then actually attempt it. Kinzoku is a crowded city you know." Terro's mom chimes in.

We all nod in agreement before thanking the two and bustling upstairs.
We all file into Terro's room and form a circle along the wall.

"So," Kin asks, strutting into the middle of the room, "what's the plan?" She finishes, looking around at all of us with a small smile.

"The plan" Anemos replies, walking over to Kin, "is to get out of here ASAP and then wing it."

Lol Idek what that was but I'm not deleting it because I'm a weirdo.
