Right after my talk with Mr. Vanderbilt I had to go tell Justin. the second I seen him I started to cry again. I jumped into his arms shouting "You can stay. You can stay!" He also started to cry into my chest. "I love you Lily." I made it a short visit. Short enough for him to hold me in his arms for a couple minutes while I finished crying.
I have not seem Cornelia since last night, and if I do I refuse to say anything to her. She is just jealous of me. Justin went all the way with me, but he would not with her. I finished all of my previous poetry books, and figured there might be something else that would interest me in the vast library.
I was immediately drawn to the top floor up books. After I climbed the spiral staircase I start to look right next to the fire place. I did not mind when George came in and sat on the sofa with a book. I just kept looking for the book I was going to read.
After I finally found a book, I just leaned back against the bookshelf and started to read. My head rose when I heard familiar ladies footsteps walk into the room. The same ones from the night before. "So father, did you get rid of Justin?" George is such a nice caring man. His next action shocked me to my very core. His backhand was laid on the side of Cornelia's face. His strength knocked her to the floor. I stood quit hoping I wouldn't be noticed.
"How could you try to lower your standards to have sex with the stable boy?" He's always calm, kind, caring voice shouts at her. you can't help but look at what is going on. Cornelia collects herself off the floor to protest. "Cornelia how could you do such a thing. I can only see you as scum now." George storms out of the library. After Cornelia cries for ten minutes on the couch. She also leaves.
I sit in my room feeling terrible about myself. He never seemed like the type of man who would turn into a monster like that. That night Justin let me lean on him while we sat and talked about what happened. "You should have seen it. He slapped her across the face with the back of his hand. She fell to the ground." He pushed me off him so he could look into my eyes. "Don't let it bother you. It is not your fault. I never even knew he could do something like that. Especially to his own daughter." I started to cry. That is the best part about Justin. He lets my cry into his chest. He never minded. That night I did not sneak back to my room. I slept in his arms under the stars.
