Hauling the deer legs over my shoulder I started the painful journey back towards my cabin. The journey would take longer than usual but I was okay with that not only do I have a huge dinner to look forward to but I was able to look at the forest on my way back.

Autumn was coming to an end and winter was coming closer meaning the snow was thickening. My boots sunk at least an inch into the snow making a satisfying crunch. I sighed, just thinking about the up coming winter was making me extremely happy. Winter always made me happy and yes even though Alaska had an all round cold year something about the winter time gave me a sense of joy.

Coming up to my cabin cleverly hidden amongst the tress and up on a small hill I dragged the deer over to the post where I tied the deers feet up on it so that later I could easily skin it.

Walking over to the door I look around for any signs of intrusion and exhaled lightly that I wouldn't have to worry about being found.

Grabbing a sharp knife I go back outside and begin my work. I need to hurry though because there are wolves that would come around to check their border in ten minutes and easily sniff out the dead animal. Quickly pulling the animal into the house I sigh in relief when I look at the time and see that I wouldn't have to worry about the smell now.

Walking over to my closet I pull open the doors to look at the weapons inside and get some small knifes and my bow and arrows. I had to have a walk around the forest to make sure everything was in order.

I stood a couple of hundred meters away from the pack border and looked out at the mass of trees and snow. Looking for any signs of rogues but came up empty but that didn't mean there wasn't going to be trouble. With the slow change of the weather becoming harsher there would be small packs of wolves coming through in search of a spot to stay that would have water and food until it got hot again and with the pack here maintaining the area it was a perfect spot. I had to make sure everything was safe.

Running back towards the area of the pack quietly and making sure that I wouldn't leave a trail behind me. Being here for so long I have managed to become an expert at leaving no sign of myself behind. That meant no broken twigs, no footprints, and definitely no scent. I had nearly been caught a couple of times before but I had learnt from my mistakes.

Coming to a point of the woods where it nearly ended I shrunk back a bit and bent down so that my weight rested on the back of my heals. Looking around through the windows and at the people walking out of the houses I noticed that everyone was okay and no one was in need of protecting.

"Alpha it was great to run with you today" someone's voice traveled to where I was.

"Yes well I haven't been out in a while and I wanted to make sure everything was okay and that no one was hurt" I silently breath out and turned.

"Don't worry Alpha your an amazing leader and no one will ever get hurt under your ruling" he praises.

"Thank you George that means a lot to me. Your a great person to this pack always putting them first" the man smiles at the praise.

"Well Sir, I better get back to my family wouldn't want to keep my lovely mate waiting" he laughs lightly and walks past me towards the pack house.

Shifting in my spot I look down and frown. I needed to do better at making this pack happy. I have dedicated everything I have to this pack already but I would do anything to make everyone happy.

Alpha shifts his gaze around the forest looking one last time before walking past me and towards his house with his eyebrows furrowed.

Standing up on the tree branch I hid on, I watched for a little bit longer until he was safely inside before making my silent journey back towards my cabin.

I don't know how I ended up here, alone in the forest, and only focusing on keeping one pack safe. It just sort of happened. One minute I'm sitting in a cafe drinking over priced, shitty coffee and the next I'm walking in an out of bounds area of the forest towards God knows where.

If anyone where to ask what I had been doing with my life before hand I wouldn't know the answer. I would look them in the eye and stare to show just how blank everything seemed to me now.

Once I found the perfect spot in the forest I started making my cabin. Little did I know it definitely was the perfect spot I was out of sight and smell of the pack here.

I would become obsessed with the idea of watching and listening and making sure nothing got through to the people I protected.

I wore long pants, boots, long sleeved t-shirt and a leather coat that not only hid me from the coldness of the weather but from people seeing what my face was. The hood protecting everything that needed to stay secret.

If people found out who I was I would be captured and possibly killed. This was my life now, to stay hidden.
