Chapter One: Party much?

November's POV:

"Mr. Emerald, don't you think it's important to think of your company's benefit? All the unfinished financial business..."

Blablabla. All boring. But what isn't on a Saturday morning, at 8am, when I could lie in bed and sleep until noon?

I'm currently sitting in one of the many conference rooms Emerald Company's has to offer, in middle of serious looking party poopers, discussing what's going to happen with my father's company once he's retired.

Many of the boring, old people here are hoping that they might take over Emerald Company's.

While I already know who's going to inherit my father's family business.

"Of course, you're right, Mr Mitchell, but I already have someone in mind. And so I'm happy to announce that on my 70th birthday, my daughter, November, will take over Emerald Company's and lead on the family business which we both have been working so hard for."

I'm whipped out of my day dreams as I hear my name being called out.

General murmurs erupt throughout the room and while some of my father's employees nod approvingly my way at the head of the table, others glare at me and shake their head in disappointment.

I don't care, though. I've been working my ass off over the past three years, just for this moment.

It was clear to my father to give the Company to his own children, three daughters and with me being the eldest it's obvious that I get the privilege to lead this company.

I stand from my place at the other end of the table and face my father with a smile.

"I want to thank all of you. I have been working so hard for this position and finally now my dream is coming true. I couldn't have done it without all of your help, though. You've guided me throughout the years and I couldn't be more grateful."

I'm a hypocrite. And I suck ass, too. Seriously. I didn't need any of them to get me where I am right now. But as my father says, I'll need them to keep the company going. And I guess, he's right. He should know.

I play with the pendant around my neck, the last present I ever got from my mother. It's a half moon with the words I love you to the moon and back.

Two weeks later she died in a plane crash with him. Which left my father with three daughters to take care of. And it started my career.

The business men and women clap hesitantly after my speech and my father goes on about what program he has in mind for the further process until he retires.

That's my cue to leave. My best friend has the plan to party all day in honor of my dad's announcement.

I sneak out of the room and go to the secretary, a slutty, young woman who's always trying to charm not only my father but every other man who works here, old and young.

"Tell Mr Emerald I have some business to attend to and to not disturb me. I'm available at the earliest tomorrow noon. Is that clear?"

"You mean, you want to party and don't want daddy to know how irresponsible you are?" The slut flashes me an innocent smile.

I smile back just as pleasantly and say quietly "Don't forget who you're talking here to, Miss Green. I do have a lot of power and believe me, you don't want to experience what happens when I'm not happy with an employee." I nod at her and rush out the door.
