Caroline's POV

" Matt , I'll take another scotch "

I'm in the grill , bored as hell .
I know I'm still in high school but so what ? It's a Friday, Sue me !

It's been a long week .
With all this crap about the moonstone, Katherine etc , I think I deserve a drink .

Oh and don't even get me started on stefan and elena .

They are so epic together.
But now stefan thinks Elena might be getting feelings for Damon .

And I don't know who's side they expect me to be on .

I know my best friend, she definitely has feelings for Damon .
Sure , I still hate him , but as much as I don't like admitting it , he's changed .

Elena made him be a better person. I know that . But then if I support them I feel guilty coz stefan is my friend too .

Elena still won't admit it to herself that she feels something for him .
I mean , come on , it's obvious there's an attraction there.

Well anyways , if she chooses damon I'm not gonna bite her head off or anything.

She needs someone to support her coz Bonnie is REALLY not gonna like it .

As for the Katherine drama :
Katherine was the one who turned me right , and now she thinks I like owe her one .

Yeah right!

Just as I'm venting out loud to myself a very hot stranger comes and sits beside me .

" Whiskey, neat . And whatever this girl's having " he tells Matt .

" I'll have the same ."

Matt leaves to get the drinks .

" So stranger , who are you? "
I ask the guy .

" Niklaus Mikaelson , but you can call me Nik."

" Caroline Forbes " I say .

" Well Caroline, I've been watching you since you came in the bar and I couldn't help over hearing your predicament "

" My predicament? What would that be ? "

" Your inner debate over whether you actually like being a vampire or not .

I'm a vampire to you see , and I'd like to offer my opinion love ,"

" Well, Nik , I doubt you know me after a few hours of observance , but go ahead "

" You seem very strong, and you strike me as someone who would enjoy that . Someone who does not appreciate being vulnerable.

Someone who enjoys being ageless, and fearless,
and that they have eternity on their hands "

" How do you know so much? "

" I've been around a long time sweetheart. And I also happen to know that I feel exactly the same as you do "

" How long is a long time exactly? "

" Over a thousand years love "

I blushed when he called me love . I always imagined a guy who would call me that . Tyler never did .

" a thousand years, wow , you must have a lot of stories to tell "

" that I do . But right now I'd like to hear about you .

Your hopes , your dreams , everything you want in life , "

" Before I was a vampire I always wanted to be a TV presenter or something, corny I know, but it was my dream .

I always imagined this perfect life , that after miss mystic falls , everything else would just fall in to place .

I thought I'd be with Tyler for the rest of my life , but obviously not .

I think it was that we had different dreams .

All Tyler wants is to be the mayor in a few years, to settle in this tiny town and never want for anything more .

I was different. After I became a vampire, all I wanted was more.

Going to college and stuff, sure I could do it , but I don't need it anymore.

I have eternity for all that . And as nice as it is to pretend to still be human and still have a normal life , it's just not living.

I want to travel. I want to see the world. I've never been further than the falls borders before.

I want to live . Experience things. I don't want to stay in the past like everyone else does ."

" And where exactly does love come into that ? " Klaus asks , obviously flirting.

" when the time is right. I want to be with the one , not just some guy ."

" what if I was the one ? "

" Maybe you are , I'd like to get to know you better, but I don't think the time is right yet ."

" Well I'll let you in on a little secret ,
There is a whole world out there waiting for you, great art and cities and music. Genuine beauty.

And one day I'll show it to you, if you'll let me .

I intend to be your last love - however long it takes ."
