They ran, cowaring away like roaches in light. Everyone ran, but me. I stood there, staring death in the face as it came crashing down on our planet. As the asteroid became bigger and closer, I stood there watching everyone push by and I began to notice that almost everyone had gone, only a few of my kind were tailing behind.
My kind, the only known species on my planet who knew how to talk, read, and write. We were Drajeons. We insulted each other with the word creature since we were a very weird race. On Earth we would be half cat, half fox... like I said, weird. I hated how it all had to change...
The asteroid plunged into our land, and I still remained where I was. Everything went white and then black. I didn't remember much after that except waking up in a desert field.
I slowly sat up but I found it too difficult so I lied back down.... 'wait' I thought as I noticed that I was able to lie down, belly up. I wore cloth that covered my upper half and more cloth covering my legs. I still had fur, but it was a different color. Yellow base with brown... hands? Feet? I was confused, so very confused. I still had my tail... it was a light brown with a white tip, better that nothing I guess.
I attempted to sit up again. This time I was able to find my ground and tried to stand. Nope. "Come on! I can't be crippled!" I yelled, despite being completely alone. It felt good to yell though. I couldn't remember the last time I cried to the spirit world, our version of the heavans. I sat there in the dirt for a few minutes and thought it would be best if I lied back down. I wish I had stayed awake though, I didn't expect to drift off to sleep at a time like that. Truth be told, I was exausted.
I woke up and found myself in a shroud of shade. I looked up and saw, green? A tree! I thought I would never see a tree again in my life. I got up a lot easier this time and looked to my left. No one. I didn't expect anyone to be on my right, but I thought wrong. I turned my head and my eyes locked with a strange looking boy. "Ahh!" I yelped as I flew backwards.
He looked concerned... and strange. The first thing I noticed were his blue eyes. They were the bluest eyes I'd ever seen. Next thing I saw was his skin, I knew he was a Drajeon though, despite looking like a hominid. His skin was grey! Light grey skin, and black hair that went down to his shoulders. At a closer look, I could see his black ears folded down in his hair. I could tell they were there because they were darker, almost as black as the night sky.
His black tail puffed and it's grey tip became more visible. He was frightened by my reaction but he didn't show any other emotion on his face but concern. It wasn't easy to see that he was concerned, but that was the closest emotion I could compare it to.
I soon realized that I was still in the same pose as I was when I was startled. I most likely looked like some sort of animal trapped in a light source. I sat up and stared at him for a solid minute till I spoke up. "H-how did I get here?" I said uneasily. "I carried you here." He said it bluntantly and with little to no emotion in his voice. Anyone would have thought he was dead with that kind monotoned voice. "Uuuh.. how old are you?" I asked because I was only 5 and he looked as young as me. "5" he said; I guess there was no need to sugar coat it... oh wait! He's still talking! What a shocker. "My birthday is May 18th in the year of 201"... that was my birthday. We were the same age.
He stood up and reached out his hand to help me up. I grabbed it and he immediately let go and I fell to the ground with a thud. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?" I yelled. He looked at his hand as if it were in pain and then rubbed it a few times. He then looked at me with slightly scared eyes. I looked at my hand to see if I could find the kulprit of his pain. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. "That burned" he said as if he wasn't even in pain. "Jeez nimrod, maybe you should show a little emotion so I can tell if you're actually in pain!" I told him with a harsh tone. He gave me a face that scared me, it was annoyed and mad looking. I decided I would shut up until he said anything to me. He spoke up but he wasn't going to put it nicely "Just get up. Sitting here isn't gonna get us anywhere." "Who said I was going to go anywhere? Where are we going to go?" I asked very concerned. "We're going somewhere safer"

To be continued! Sorry about the cliffhanger but these to young'uns will be back in the next chapter except in the boy's point of view. Hope you enjoyed it so far!
