Hi, yes, another story. I'm publishing because of the new cover I made and wanted to show you all. LOL. I have a bunch of prewritten parts but I'm stuck in writer's block and would really like to update but as I can't, please accept this story as a peace offering <3. I'm super upset I can't write a thing. pLEASE don't send me hate messages or update ones thanks guys. This is something I work on irregularly, just whenever Heartbreak Girl plays and I'm in shuffle mode, and if I'm particularly feeling the friendzone. Anyways, here it is. Please listen to Heartbreak Girl by Five Seconds of Summer so you get the gist of the story. One of my inspirations besides the song is BelWatson 's book Face Down based on Face Down by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. A slammin story and song, check it out. Thanks for all the support, please vote and comment your thoughts.

VIOLET WAS SPENDING A LAZY DAY RE-WATCHING SOME OLD SHOWS WHEN GARRET CALLED. Overeager to hear his voice again, she picked up quickly, pausing F.R.I.E.N.D.S. There was no hello, hey, hi, konichiwa, hola, ni hao, guten tag, bonjour, or otherwise. But Garrett was always one to be concise and state his point; he had to be, as a future lawyer.

"Vi, I think we need to take a break." After those first words were spoken through the grainy receiver her phone got from falling too many times, she froze up.

"What? I-" Violet felt confused. Just the other day they'd enjoyed a date out golfing, one of the few sports she had yet to master. It'd ended perfectly, perhaps too perfectly, with Garrett dropping her off at her dorm with kisses and a hug.

"I just need some space, okay? I'll call you." His voice sounded distant, and it wasn't just the effect of her faulty receiver.

He hung up. Violet knew he did this. Garrett liked to feel in control of the relationship. It only went where he wanted it to. He never let Violet make the decisions.

But he loved her, right?

He didn't even say 'I love you' in the call. A voice in her head bitterly spat.

"But he loves me. I know he does. And I love him. So I should give him some space, just like he wants." He'll call me back, she says to herself, clutching onto false reassurances like a safety blanket.

Even so, she trembled slightly, shoulders shaking, feeling her heart slowly crumble to pieces. She slumped to the floor, having stood up getting the phone from her desk. All hopes of watching reruns of F.R.I.E.N.D.S tossed out the window and run over by a truck, she sulked the rest of the afternoon.

Later, she felt empty and saddened that she didn't understand what had transpired just then with the phone call. The nagging doubt in the back of her head only grew as she mulled over the conversation. It was quick and precise, just like everything he was.

Violet scrolled through her phone, wondering which of her girl friends she should text, but each person that she passed didn't feel like someone she could vent to and trust not to spill. Girls were gossipy and loved to tell people things that they really shouldn't, at least the ones she skimmed over in her contacts list. Violet sighed, mentally making a note to find some girl friends that weren't obsessed with the latest trend and who was dating who, like college was a social game, level two, and high school was one.

Finally, she found a name. Her finger hovered over the contact name, with the picture of someone grinning widely next to it, wondering if at this hour they'd even pick up...

She tapped the contact, hoping it wouldn't go embarrassingly to voicemail. The dial tone rang once and the other person immediately picked up.

"Simon?" She asked shakily, trying to keep it together. Suddenly, a flood of emotion took over her.

"Violet, what's wrong?" Her best friend immediately knew something was up. She was grateful for him. He always pulled through. They were best friends for as long as they'd been alive, growing up in houses next to each other, their parents close friends, and as a result, they grew close too. Whatever happened, she knew that Simon would be there. He was always there.

"Can I come over? It's Garrett." Her voice wavered saying his name.

"Did he hurt you? Are you alright? What happened?" He sounded frantic over the phone.

"No, it's-I'm fin-I just need to talk, please." Her voice cracked, her tone begging him to drop the matter for now.

He sighed heavily. "Yeah. See you in fifteen?"

"See you."

"Love you, Violet."

"You too."

She hung up. The voice in her head said, he said 'I love you'.
