prologue

The last kill was the easiest.

It was the easiest because of what it meant to me. It meant I would be returning home alive, as winner of the Hunger Games.

There was no gong resounding in the arena this time, only the anthem of Panem playing loud and proud in my ears as the head maker announced delightedly, "We have our newest victor. Finnick Odair, or District Four has just won the sixty fifth Hunger Games!"

My chest heaved tiredly after the struggle at the cornucopia, where the grand finale had taken place just moments earlier. On the ground near me was the last fallen tribute, with bloody puncture wounds in his chest that matched the ones on my trident. A small length of rope about the size of my fingers was squeezed in the palm of my hand, the token of my district given to me by my best friend.

It was a matter of time before they arrived on an aircraft to retrieve me, as well as the dead body. And doctors swarmed me in an instant, making sure I was okay.

They would be taking me to the capital.

This was far from over.

prologue is here.

we all know that finnick wins the sixty fifth games, that is no secret. but i always wondered how he did it and what his arena would have been like, how his life in district four was before he was reaped, and all that. and since the author of the hunger games left it to the imagination, that is exactly what i will do.

create his story myself. i thought up a plot, some original characters, as well as characters that already exist which will be included. this story will end about the time before he goes on his victory tour. then maybe i will post a sequel.

i will definitely, however, create a spin off about annie's games because i just find her so interesting. johanna is very interested as well. if i am still motivated by then, i may write a story about her game too. hell, everyone will get a story about their games. lol jk.

i really hope you all enjoy this story.

im very excited to write it.

note: i know the prologue is in first person, but im still thinking of possibly writing the rest of the story in third person. since im so used to it and it just generally works better for me.
