The school's winter festival was coming up, and Flora wanted to do something special for it. Her classes had been studying A Christmas Carol in English. She wanted to put on the play for the parents in Korean, but slow it down a bit in the opening and ending scenes so that her star pupils could interpret them into English and showcase their work.

"Why not the other way around?" asked Kyung Mi after listening to the idea. Flora had been prepared for this.

"Because I think that the parents would enjoy it more that way, and we won't have to scrounge for enough students who can speak the English parts AND act," she reasoned. Kyung Mi was all for it, and helped Flora propose the idea to the teacher in charge of the drama club, Kim Ho-jun, the art teacher, the principal, and the school board.

Now they just had to make some small sets and props, some costumes, and set up auditions. Flora and Kyung Mi quickly found their English-speakers for the translated scenes, the art teacher took care of the sets and costumes, and Ho-jun took care of arranging the auditions, though all of them would be helping pick the cast.

Not many students were willing to audition because of schoolwork, though. Ho-jun suggested that to solve the problem, Flora would play the ghost of Christmas past, he would play the ghost of Christmas present, and Kyung Mi could play the ghost of Christmases yet to come (since she was only half-Korean and had inherited her father's height).

"Let the rehearsals begin!" shouted Ho-jun once they had everything settled.
