Intro:
Ok, so I know what you’re thinking. This is just another stupid diary thing about some stupid high school love story. It going to have cheesy, lame, stupid, cliché parts that can be so predictable. Well guess what? I am not going to lie.. That’s exactly what this is. Hi. I’m Darcy Winchester and this is the story of my life.
The Story of My Life
There he was, standing just across the cafeteria laughing hard at one of his friends jokes. His six pack was clearly visible through his simple white V-neck. Casually he ran his fingers through his perfect brunette hair with his free hand, holding his black bag with the other. “Darcy!” My best friend Tinsley whispered snapping me out of my thoughts.
“What?” I asked looking over to her giving her a death stare. You could hear the slight British accent in my voice. My dad was born in England.
“You were staring again.” Leo replied looking at me. I rolled my eyes and muttered “Sorry” under my breath.
“Whyyyy!” I whined to them. Logan Carter. He was a typical high school jock. Cocky, rude, and perfect are all things that describe him. Don’t get me wrong, he was gorgeous. Perfectly tanned skin, dark ruffled hair, deep green eyes-you get the picture.
Tinsley and I have been friends ever since 1st grade. She has dirty blonde hair that bounces off her shoulders when she walks. Her bright blue eyes always seem to be bursting with energy. Tinsley is tall and gorgeous, about 5’7. She has no trouble with guys at all, unlike me. We are complete opposites. What can I say? Opposites attract. I am short about 5’2. I have flat, dull, brown straight hair that stays exactly the same no matter what I do to it. I am as skinny as a pole and I normally don’t talk to anybody except my two best friends; I bet you can guess, Tinsley and Leo.
“What’s your people’s problem with that guy anyways?” Leo asked.
“We’ve already told you like a million times by now.” Tinsley told him.
“Well I still don’t get it. He is the biggest player at this school, so why do you obsess over him?” Leo asked again.
“Seriously Leo? Can’t a girl dream?” I questioned him. Right on cue the school bell rang. I picked up my bag and waved to my friends. “Bye my loves!”
I walked down the long hallway to my next class. Art. The only class I actually enjoy. I pushed open the huge door and was immediately hit with the smell of paints and musty canvases. I really enjoyed the scent. “Hey Darcy!” I turned to face Austin. I have known him since the very beginning of the year. We used to be really close, but he ditched me for the populars. I mean I don’t really care, I get it. A nobody versus a popular? Whatever. “Hi Austin.” I said annoyed. I walked over to my usual seat by the wall away from everybody else. I liked being alone, it made me feel secure. I slung my messenger bag around the bottom of my stool. “Ok guys. Today we’re going to be using paints to create something that describes us. It has to show you and your self, not what other people think of you.” I nodded and smiled. This was going to be easy. I reached into my bag and fished out my pink earphones. I plugged them into my iPhone and put on my favorite playlist. It consisted of One Direction, Bob Marley, The Band Perry, Bruno Mars, and a few others. She’s Not Afraid by One Direction came on. I let my creative juices flow and started sketching out a black door with a girl sitting in the shadows behind it. There was a white light coming through the door. The girl seemed scared. She had some pink earphones in and her dark hair was covering her face. She was holding her legs close to her chest, making her look scared. I put the words ‘Lost in the shadows’ across the bottom.
“Can I see your work Darcy?” Mrs. Robertson asked. I nodded. She came to the other side of the easel and stood behind me. “That’s beautiful. True talent. You are one of the best artists I have.” She walked away to the next kid. I started playing with the metal bracelet around my wrist; my mum gave it to me.
