The note was slipped into his locker. It was small, like a business card, and made of creamy white cardboard.

The words were scribbled in blue biro:

'George Davis. Meet at the Edgewood Diner. 7pm. Don't tell anyone. It's important.'

"Bro you've got yourself an admirer!"

He whipped around to see Nate reading over his shoulder with a smirk on his face.

George sighed in annoyance, glaring at his friend. "Well there goes the whole 'don't tell anyone' part." Something to the right of Nate's smug expression caught his eye.

Sadie's gaze was fixated on them as she walked past. She quickly looked down when she saw George looking, and slammed straight into Arlo Dolton.

Arlo was a huge guy, generally pretty quiet, but the guys he hung out with (Jordan and Adrian Summers- twins who were the school's most idiotic 'bad boys') gave him an untouchable and intimidating reputation.

George cringed as Sadie bent down to pick up the books she dropped, expecting Arlo to say something rude to her, but to his surprise pure shock was written on the boy's face. Almost...recognition.

Sadie looked up at Arlo's towering figure, before hastily scrambling to her feet and dodging around him.

"Wait!" Arlo called after her. "Aren't you-" he stopped himself, looking around the hallway realising his outburst. George and Nate watched the embarrassed boy turn and walk off in the opposite direction from Sadie, lost in thought.

"What was that about?" Nate wondered out loud.

"I have no idea". George shook it from his mind, focusing back down at the note.

"Do you have any idea who it's from? Or why they want to meet you?" Nate asked.

The only person George could think of was Sadie. But he wasn't about to tell Nate why he suspected her.

"No idea." George shut his locker behind him as they walked down the hallway.

"Well, are you gonna go?"

George thought for a moment. "I guess so, might as well see what they want."

"But you don't even know who this person is! What if they're dangerous?" Nate exclaimed as they walked into the harsh light of the outdoors.

"Yeah, I doubt it." George scoffed.

"Well the only explanations I can think of is that it's either a girl or a murderer, and them writing you a note is creepy in both situations."

George didn't reply as the pushed through the crowds in the carpark. He couldn't explain it to Nate. He wanted answers, and Sadie was offering them to him. If it was her that wrote it...

"Do you want me to come-"

"No you can't," He cut Nate off. The last thing he needed was for anyone to get tangled in his mess. "It says not to bring anyone."

"Yeah, and that's really creepy!" Nate protested.

"Come on man. It'll be fine." George gave Nate a look that said he was worrying too much. "I just don't have a bad feeling about this. I feel like it's really important." George threw his bag onto the back seat of his car.

"Okay, fine. Whatever. If you get abducted don't come crying to me." Nate huffed, hopping into the passenger seat. George looked at him. Nate looked back. "What?"

"Am I giving you a ride home then?"

"Oh yeah, well since you've offered..." Nate buckled his seat belt. George rolled his eyes, turning the ignition.
