The GCPD. It was a lot more dull then I expected. The lighting was dim which gave the place a bit of an creepy characteristic. The criminals in the back of the place didn't help.
I take off my hoodie revealing my brown hair and face. As I walk in I memorize the structure of it. Looking at the faces I see a couple of people I recognize from their file. I only had the corrupt cops files and well that was mainly the whole department. I walk up to the first desk I see and ask the man sitting behind it with his legs propped up on the desk reading a news paper a question.
"Excuse me?" I try to say politely but the anticipation of meeting Jim was started to get to me.
The man drops his news paper as he notices my presence. "What is a pretty little thing like you doing here?" The cop smiled creepily. Man that perv needed to be punched in the face who does he think he was?
"Do you happen to know where James Gordon is?" I ask noticing his slight demeanor.
"Up there." He points up the stairs to two desks.
"Thanks asshat." I murmur as I start to head up the stairs feeling his perverted eyes on my backside but ignored it.
Bang.
I hit something or rather someone on my way up to meeting Gordon. I see papers flying as the files drop to the floor. I immediately start picking up the papers and apologizing. "I'm so sorry I didn't see you there."
"Nor did I." I hear a response from a some what nasal voice.
I looked up and was meet with a dark haired, brown eyed man with a big smile. I hadn't seen him in any the files I went through.
Why was it I would never get a file on the most interesting people?
I snap myself out of the trance as I pick up the last paper and hand it to him. As I was handing it over I did notice what to be a X symbol with O's all around it but I didn't question it at the time. But it was definitely noted.
"Hello. My name is Ed, Edward Nigma." The man says while extending his hand. He seemed so sweet and innocent. Too innocent for Gotham. I couldn't help but crack a smile at his slight dorkiness. I retrieve his hand and shake it.
"Hi my name is Iris. Nice to meet you Ed."
"Hello Iris." His voice was warm and welcoming.
"Do you know where Jim is?" I ask knowing his desk was only a few feet away but I couldn't help but get nervous and that's the only thing that popped in my mind.
"Oh. Yes of course his desk is just right over there." Ed says pointing a few feet away to an empty desk.
Jim was out? Where?
My thoughts were interrupted by Ed a couple moments later.
"What people are always in a hurry?" Ed flashes a smile the riddle obviously amusing him.
"Excuse me?" I ask. Did he just ask me a riddle? Now that's a bit odd but luckily I was some what good at riddles. I didn't have many friends growing up so I filled the void with riddles and puzzles.
"It's a riddle." Ed states. "Do you give up?" He says almost satisfied I haven't answered.
"Russians." I answered confidently.
His eyes goes big for a second. I'm sure he's not use to people getting his riddles right or answering at all. "Yes your right!"
"Well... It would be a bit embarrassing if I didn't get that one considering my family and I are from Russia." I add. This guy was clever he must have noticed my slight accent.
"I might be able to help you locate Jim considering you answered my riddle correctly."
If answering just one riddle correctly would get me the information I needed it wasn't a hard bargain.
"He might be at the Wayne manner. He tends to go there a lot." Ed smiles before walking right past me to his desk I assume. A slight huff escapes me from the fascination yet awkwardness of this Edward Nigma. Not only was this guys adorable but he was smart. I could certainly use him in the future. Noted.
'This Jim guy sure has good timing but luck could only last so long right?' I thought to myself before leaving the police precinct.
--------------------------------------------
As I leave the precinct I run into what seemed like a wall. As I look up I noticed it wasn't a wall but something worse, Harold. I give a quick innocent smile."What are you doing here?" Harold asks sternly.
"I could ask you the same." I sass.
Harold obviously not liking my answer, well statement as he fixed his black trench coat a bit and took a breath.
"Well, I came here looking for you miss." Harold lied. He actually came to see Jim but with Iris here the matter could wait. The last thing he wanted was to for Iris to get hurt getting in the cross fire. "Now, we have important business to discuss but first we need to make a pit stop." Harold said adjusting his gloves.
"Where?" Iris asks curiously looking into Harold oceanic blue eyes.
"Wayne manner." Harold states.
