"Are you going to the celebration tonight?" Julia asked as we watched three training groups in front of us do a whole variety of moves.
"Yes, I have to," I answered with a smile. "I am the Luna after all."
When I woke up this morning, Aiden was gone to a meeting with some of the other Alphas that had a Pack close to his territory. He informed me that he was going to discuss the threats and attacks that were happening lately. I was also asked by Ace to watch over the training groups since Aiden wouldn't be there to supervise.
"Well, I guess we are attending it together," Julia replied, beaming at me as I kept my eyes focused on a group of wolves whilst she trailed beside me. I shot her a confused look. "I am the Beta's mate after all."
I laughed and nodded, spotting Staci standing in between two handsome, built men. She was not flirting like she was used to which was strange. Julia must've noticed as well because we swapped confused looks with one another but quickly allowed it to slide.
It was just after lunch that Aiden had been gone since 5:45 am. I sighed, longing for his presence as Julia and I ascended the porch and entered the Pack House, a warm atmosphere settling. My eyes danced around for Rachel but she was nowhere to be seen.
"When does Rachel return home?" I asked Julia as we both grabbed a bottle of water each from the fridge.
"She hasn't said anything about returning," Julia answered before taking a sip from the bottle. "In fact, she hasn't mentioned anything about returning to Australia."
I narrowed my eyebrows in confusion. How can she stay away from her mate for so long? And her pup for that matter. I nodded and sauntered back outside to see the training groups already heading towards the Pack House, each acknowledging me as they walked past.
Staci walked past us with an annoyed look plastered on her face as Julia and I gave each other confused looks again before following her to her, well, messy room. Her clothes were scattered all over her floor and her bed wasn't made yet. A non-familiar lingering scent crawled up my nostrils as I sniffed it out, trying to recognise it yet it did not ring a bell.
"Staci, what's up?" I questioned, something nagging at the back of my head.
"N-nothing," Staci stuttered.
Julia frowned as she sat beside her sister on the bed.
"Staci," Julia said firmly before taking a huge sniff which made Staci immediately tense up. "Staci, what is this unfamiliar scent?" Julia jumped off the bed, standing beside me angrily as my head began to hurt from trying to figure out what the scent was.
Staci ran a hand through her hair and sighed, standing up as her trembling hands clenched her purple sweatpants before her eyes met Julia's gaze. "I...might have...taken in a...rogue."
For a minute or so, I didn't know if I was dreaming because the room went dead quiet. My head was immediately swarmed with questions as I looked at Julia, her mouth hanging open and her eyes filled with fury. Julia stormed towards the bedroom door and slammed it shut before retreating back to my side.
"What do you mean by you have taken in a rogue?" Julia asked furiously.
Staci looked so vulnerable that at this point, tears were brimming her eyes.
I set a hand on Julia's shoulder to calm her down before taking Staci's hand into mine before looking into her eyes, "who's this rogue?"
Staci mumbled incoherent words before Julia spoke up, "louder, sister."
