The girl was young, no older than fifteen. She had the same brunette hair as Aiden and her brown eyes were dazzling. She looked...just like Aiden. Her jaw was sharp, similar to Aiden's and her smile was so innocent and pure. I unfolded the picture to find a familiar looking boy whose bright smile could light up a room. The boy had his arms around the girl and he was...well flexing. I laughed silently as his short brunette hair was sticking out everywhere as if he had just woken up. I could feel Aiden's brown eyes on me as I looked up at him to only find that he had masked his emotions, knowing that the young boy in the picture is long gone.
"Who is this?" I asked quietly as I kept my gaze on the beautiful picture in front of me.
"My twin sister," he answered. "Brea Brooklyn." He said her full name with a bit of pain as his grip tightened on the white sheets in between us.
"Is she still...?" I trailed off as he shook his head, sighing deeply as he put his face in his hands.
I placed the picture on the nearby glass table and wrapped my arms around his waist, knowing that it was one of many ways to calm him down.
"She died on our fifteenth birthday," he squeaked as he unwrapped my arms around his waist, making my heart sink.
I watched him move across the bed as he laid down, stretching a hand towards me. I looked at it, confused as I slowly placed my hand into his large one, and in a matter of seconds, I was surprised that I was now laying right beside him, chest to chest, his strong arms caging my small body.
"You don't have to talk about it," I whispered quietly as I heard his own heart beat steady.
"You're my other half and my equal. I want you to know," he replied as he hugged me closer than before whilst I could feel my face flush red.
"It all started when our parents were getting our birthday party ready," he started taking a deep breath in as I felt myself shifting 'till I know I was comfortable. "The pack members were busy running around, coming in and out with a bunch of new groceries as the men were getting the BBQ ready behind the pack house. It was going all very well until..."
I looked upwards to see Aiden's eyes. He seemed more distant. His grip on my waist suddenly tightened as I clutched onto his arm, letting him know that I was there for him.
He returned back to reality and gave me a small smile before continuing, "we already blown out the candles and I hadn't realised that Brea went missing twenty minutes later so I decided to go on a hunt for her," he continued, scoffing. "Brea loved adventures and was one badass she-wolf, like you. I was just around the pack house until I heard a loud scream, recognising it was my sister's, I quickly ran over towards where the sound was coming from," his grip loosened. "I saw a bunch of rogues hold her in front of them in the air but all I did was stared at her terrified, pale face. I couldn't do anything. I watched the rogues tear her apart, limb by limb as if their lives depended on it. Davina, I watched my sister die and I couldn't do shit at all." I felt Aiden take deep breaths as his body started trembling.
"My father came by moments later with of course, pack fighters as they attacked the rogues who killed my sister. My mother had dragged me away from the battle scene as I was still stunned. Nothing in my body was working. After an hour later, my father appeared with a few men, less than the numbers he had entered with, but he had taken his revenge sweetly. After a few weeks after Brea's death, I had shut everyone out of my life, except for my parents. My father taught me how to fight like a true alpha but he became heartless everyday after Brea died, so I decided to follow in his footsteps," he sighed deeply, burying his face in my hair. "My mother couldn't take Brea's death anymore so she decided to kill herself right before I turned sixteen and of course, my father couldn't deal with his mate's and his daughter's death at the same time so he also killed himself not too long after. That was when I had completely shut everyone out. In the hands of Ace's father, the former Beta, he had raised and taught me everything I needed to know to be an alpha and at the age of eighteen, I took the alpha position as, what people calls it now, the heartless one."
My eyes widened in shock as I slightly backed away a bit to only be pulled back. I cleared my throat softly. "How did you deal with your family's death?" Stupid question. My wolf was whimpering in pain for our mate.
"I took it out on the rogues who trespassed, and hell was it such a good feeling." His brown hard eyes met my gaze. "Until I met you. Ever since I met you, I felt like the hole in my heart has been filled and even if you were very pissed at me, I loved your facial expressions."
My eyes widened more, surprised that he was being...sweet. I couldn't help but spread a smile on my lips as he leaned closer. "You are now my life, and if anything were to happen to you, god only knows."
I melted in his arms as he crushed me. "O-okay...too tight, tough one."
He chuckled as he kissed the top of my head. "Brea and I made a promise to each other when we were ten."
I frowned at him confused, at what he meant.
"Brea and I promised that if we ever found our mate then we had to be nice to them," he chuckled as I scoffed.
"Clearly, you tried," I punched his hard chest playfully.
"Not my fault you pissed me off a lot," he replied, pouting.
I laughed at his childish pout and once my laugh faded, I realised something. "Behind every heartless alpha or any wolf, there's a painful history," I whispered as he nodded. "And that's what makes them so cruel."
"Now I want to make a promise to you and of course to make it up to my dead sister..." he trailed off as if it was a hard thing to say. The sentence caught my attention as I smirked, playfully.
"I know Brea wants me to happy and if she were here and if she's seen me treat you like I have ever since you walked into my territory, she will be pissed as shit," he said as I laughed. "I was closest to my sister out of all and now, you had broken through the barrier I had put up. God Davina, I sometimes wonder what you're doing to me."
He took a deep breath and looked right into my eyes without hesitation. "I promise...to you Davina Rosales...that I'll try my best to be the man you deserve and need, and not be a complete asshole," he started as my eyes softened and my heart skipped a beat. "You will always be my top priority."
I swear it was some type of vow but I knew it wasn't. I could feel tears escaping my eyes as my heart started pounding loudly whilst Aiden looking at me with love and admiration. He wasn't the person I saw when I first met him, but it felt like I just caught an inside of him and his past. God, I'm so speechless. My wolf howled in excitement and I could feel her joy.
"I promise to forever be by your side," I replied as I looked deeply into his brown eyes as it dazzled, my wolf approving my words. And he knew what I meant. Through better or worse. An idea suddenly lit up. "Pinky promise?"
He laughed as I smiled and held out my pinky. He shook his head playfully and hooked my pinky with his as tingles shot through it, making me smile before replying, "I promise."
For a moment, we stared into each other's eyes as if it was the only thing we saw, everything around us had faded. I felt the urge to kiss him as my pinky left his and my hand now stroked his bare back lightly, making him sigh in pleasure. I smiled to myself as I shifted upwards so we were face to face, my wolf loved the view. His nose brushed mine lightly and that was all it took to send electricity throughout my entire body.
Our lips connected, moving in rhythm as Aiden placed his hands on my back and started stroking it lightly, crushing me against him. My lips parted, giving him permission to slip his tongue through and as he did so, our tongues connected whilst devouring each other as a moan in pleasure escaped my lips in between kisses making his eyes grow dark, covered in lust.
"I'm tired," I whispered after we parted, both of us panting. I meant it, I was really tired.
Way to ruin the moment, my wolf growled angrily at me as I slightly chuckled.
"Sleep," he murmurs softly as I let sleep consume me.
A/N: Finally they kissed. This was deep shit, even for Aiden. ((:::
