The shaking starts soon after. My whole body starts shaking, and my name is being called in my head. Screaming my name over and over again. I want to tell it to stop but I can't make myself do anything. My body just keeps shaking without my control, and the sound of my name being screamed consumes my mind. My eyes are closed, and I didn't plan on opening them anytime soon, but the shaking is unbearable.A slit of light cuts through my vision as I slowly open my eyes to the daylight. And Billy's face is right above me.
"There she is. Are you okay?" He asks me with a smile on his face. I notice his shirt is off and there is a bundle of cloth underneath my head.
"What happened?" I asked still confused. I look around at everyone and they are all staring at me in amusement. It makes me angry for a reason I don't really know.
"Chavez passed around the coyote blood last night. Guess you've never had it before." He says and everyone laughs. I slap Billy on the chest, but that just makes him laugh harder.
"I may be an Indian but whatever that was made me see some crazy things." I say trying to be serious as I think back to what I saw.
"What does you being an Indian got to do with anything?" Dick asks. Chavez and I stare at him and everyone else laughs.
"What? I'm serious." He says. Chavez and I just shake our heads.
"Did you see your spirit horse, Jane?" Chavez asks. Everyone goes quiet.
"No, Chavez, I didn't." I answer. "I did see all of us though, including myself. It was quite the sight." I answer. When I look at Billy he has an odd look on his face, for what, I don't know. When I look back at Chavez he just nods at me not breaking eye contact. Is something happening that I don't know about?
Billy gets up and offers me his hand, and I take it. As I get up, I pull his shirt up with me and hand it to him.
"You might need this." I say handing it to him. He grabs onto that hand.
"Might need what exactly?"He asks, his eye twinkling at me. I try to pull my hand away but his grip becomes tighter, our eye contact never breaking.
"Don't do that." I say with a scow. The corners of his mouth pull up.
"Do what?" He asks calmly.
"Twinkle at me." I say in a quiet voice. His boisterous laugh soon follows and I roll my eyes. I tear my hand from his and turn around and head for my horse.
"Hey! Where you goin'?" He calls still laughing as he chases after me.
"Away from-" I am suddenly trying to run in mid air as he picks me up and throws me over his shoulder.
"Alright last one to the trail drinks dirty dish water." Billy calls out to everyone. Everyone begins to mount up on their horses.
"Billy! Let me down!" I yell at him, hitting his back with my fists. He shushes me and I start hitting him harder. Chavez walks up to us and stops in front of Billy.
"I wouldn't mess with her, she has knifes and a gun under her dress." He says to Billy with a chuckle. My face goes beat red. And as a result I start kicking and screaming harder.
"LET. ME. DOWN. Billy, so help me I will do unmentionable things to you." I say. Then I realize what he would take that as.
"Ooooo. " He coos, as he starts walking over to my horse. I hit him again in the back.
"Okay, Okay. I'll let you down. That one hurt." He says chuckling. He sits me down in front of him and I roll my eyes.
"I could have done worse." I say.
