Joy and I walked over to where Jerry sat. He seemed like a completely different guy than when we first ‘met'. Joy sat next to him, trying to cheer him up. I stood at a distance, I feared that I had something to do with this. Jerry and Joy talked for a while until they finally decided to include me in the conversation. By this point Jerry seemed like he was about to explode, it kind of made me feel sorry, but his face was just too darn funny.

Jerry stood up from where he was seated and headed for the door. Joy followed behind, giving him the last motivating words she could come up with. "Hey you know what, maybe it just wasn't meant to be," Joy began to say, "I'm not just saying this to cheer you up, but because you can do better, and because you have a lot to look forward to."

"It's just difficult, I really got attached to her, and I just never really felt this way for anyone before."Jerry replied.

"Well it's for the best, you know how she was. She was too wild, she was doing so many things behind your back."

Must suck to have a girlfriend like that, I thought to myself.

"I guess you're right..." Jerry replied. Joy walked over to him and gave him a hug.

As Jerry walked out I pulled Joy aside, "Why was he here?" I asked. Joy looked at me funny, "You where here this whole time, I thought you'd know what was going on by now."

"That's not what I meant. What i did mean was why was he here, I thought he annoyed you."

Joy walked over to the couch. "Well, he's like a little puppy you can't get rid of. We were best friends a while back, but it changed when he got with Rachel."

"Wait, what's her name?" I asked, suddenly my heart began to beat faster.

"Rachel, you'll probably run into her when we start school. She's everywhere, and not to mention with everyone." Joy sarcastically said.

Joy had just confirmed what I feared. I stood there looking at her, she looked back at me and said, "Are you ok?" I ran upstairs, almost tripping on the last step. "Anthony!" Joy yelled as she followed behind me. I looked for my phone after entering my room and sat on the edge of my bed.

Joy peeked into my room, "Anthony is everything alright?" she said as she stood in the doorway.

I looked up from my phone, "I don't think so." I said as my hands shook.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Joy said as she entered the room. I shook my head in agreement and held up my phone. She walked over to where I sat and took the phone from my hands. Joy took at me and asked, "What's this?"

"Just read." I replied.

Joy sat next to me as she began to read the text messages from the night before.

"You know Rachel?" she asked while giving me a stern look.

I looked at her for a second, "I may have met her yesterday."

"Oh my goodness Anthony! If Jerry finds out you're dead!"

Things couldn't possibly get any worse at this point.

"Well, it's not your fault, so don't feel like you're to blame. It was meant to be." she said as she stood up. She began to walk out the door when she turned around and said, "By the way, I'm taking you to a party tomorrow. So find something to wear."

"Sounds like a plan." I replied as I walked her out of my room.

"Cheer up!" she said with a smile. "Turn that frown upside down!" It was hard not to smile at the way she said it."There you go!" she said.
