CHAPTER: 1

"BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP... BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP!!!!!"

I wake up, and sluggishly reach over to shut up the deafening noise of the demonic thing that wakes me up; also known as my alarm clock.

Great, Monday, the first day of the tiring hell the law forces me attend. I get up and look in the mirror, of course my hair looks it was just attacked by a pack of hungry squirrels. My long, light-brown hair flows nicely after I brush it, I actually look somewhat decent today.

"LAUREN!" my mom screams from downstairs.

"WHAAAAAT?!" I yell back at her.

"Come eat your breakfast before it's too late!"

"Coming!"

Screaming through my house is our way of communicating when we aren't in the same room. I go downstairs and mom looks a little more tired than usual. Ever since my dad died and my brother went to college, she's always seemed so depressed. Now it's just me and her, which I guess is kinda nice, but then again she only has to focus on me, which sadly means I don't get away with as much as usual.

I finish up my pancakes and grab my bookbag. "Bye mom!" I grab my phone on the way out the door and head off to the bus stop.

I text my best friend Robin; we've been friends since 6th grade, so it's been about three years, give or take.

Me: hey, you ready for hell? i mean umm school

Her: lol yeah, we'll be a little late picking you up, my dad woke up 20 minutes after his alarm

I always carpool with her and her dad, he drops us off at school on his way to work so I don't have to ride the stupid bus filled to the brim with both loud obnoxious middle schoolers and the senior fuckboys and sluts. I wait patiently at the end of my driveway for her to arrive, and after a couple minutes I see her car coming.

Her dad stops and I hop in next to Robin.

"Hey, you okay?" I ask.

I could tell something was wrong because her eyes looked a little puffy so I knew she had been crying.

"Yeah, I'm fine, why?" she replies.

"No reason, I'm just making sure everything is alright, thats all" I say.

Hopefully she will open up to me after school. "Okay" she says and turns her head and looks out the window.

The rest of the car ride is nothing but silence besides the faint noise of the radio playing in the background.

"Alrighty kiddos, we're here, have a good day girls!" her dad exclaims.

Robin and I both say "thanks" in sync. We get out of the car and start walking to school, we only have about a week left in school so i guess it isn't that bad. Robin looks over at me and says "soooo, I'm having a few friends over at my house after school on the last day and i was wondering if you maybe uhh, wanted to come?"

I was confused on why she was so nervous to ask me, she's invited me to her house millions of times before.

"Yeah, of course!" I say to her; and with that she smiled and said "Okay sweet, you'll ride the bus with me and everyone after school then, I gotta go to class so I will talk to you later."
