Chapter 38

Lauren's POV
  I woke up without the warmth of Calum behind me. I got up went to the kitchen, ready to face Mom.
  I walked to the fridge and grabbed a bowl of strawberries for breakfast.
"Lauren honey, I know you're mad." Mom said.
"What do you think? I was banned from seeing my boyfriend after I decided that my mom should know." I snapped.
  "Lauren, the award show is today... I put your dresses in your bathroom." she said quietly.
  I stormed to my room and went to my bathroom. I took the dresses in my hand and looked at them. I had one dress for the first half of the show and another one for the other half of the show.
One was a blue high low dress and the other was pink and white skater dress. I sighed and put them down, I grabbed my phone and closed my door making sure mom wasn't around and called Calum.
  First ring and he answered right away.
"You left me." I said sadly.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I heard footsteps outside your door and I had to leave. I couldn't take a chance." he sighed.
  "I know, just sucks having to hide." I confessed.
  "I miss you already." he laughed.
"Why wouldn't you?" I smirked.
"True." he laughed.
  "I need to get ready for the award show soon, I'll see you there?" I asked.
"Definitely, I'll be the one cheering on my amazing girlfriend." I smiled at his comment and we said our goodbyes.
I put down my phone and opened the door and saw Mom coming.
"Get ready soon." she said as she walked back to her room.
  She knows I'm mad at her and I sure as hell am.

I got in this spiny chair and the makeup artist started and so did the hairstylist. My makeup for the first outfit was a pretty smokey sort of eye with a wing and a dark red lip. For my hair they put on a black wig with dark purple and made a braid/rose thing in the back of my head like high low style (I suck at describing things). My dress was a blue high low thing that went down sideways (I don't know) and my heels were sparkly open toed. I put on my diamond snowflake necklace Prissy gave me on my 13th birthday. I looked in the mirror and I looked smoking hot! (Outfit on top!)
I got out of my room and saw Mom waiting for me.
"You look gorgeous!" she said breathlessly.
  "Thanks." I muttered.
  "I know you're still mad, but you got to understand from my point of view." she said.
"I'm trying, ok?" I sighed. "And tonight I'm gonna see Calum and I'm gonna talk to him, you're not gonna stop me from talking to him, are you?" I challenged.
"No, I'm not." she said looking at me in the eyes. Before she could say anything else, I walked out the door.
   We headed to the limo that brought us to the award show.
   Already, cameras flashed and people gasped in awe at the sight of my hair. I smiled and made my way to where I had to go for interviews. I spotted Ryan Secreast waving me over and I walked to him.
  "Lauren, sweetie! You look gorgeous!" he shrieked with excitement.
"You look dashing as always, Ryan." I laughed.
  "You're making me blush! So tell me, your hair! It's magnificent, is it real?" he asked.
  "It is real hair, but not really mine." I admitted.
  "Really? Wigs, I see?" he asked.
  "Yes! My mom suggested the wigs and I loved the idea!" I smiled.
  "Also, between us, you and Calum Hood? What's with you guys?" he asked.
  I got nervous and my hands got sweaty but I spoke up like nothing was wrong.
  "We're just friends, I was staying at the same hotel as them after I found out my house was infested with mice and I fell asleep with him, I guess." I said like it was perfectly fine.

After the interview, I saw Cameron and Nash getting off the red carpet, which I, myself, just got off, too. We made eye contact and they came my way.
  "Laur, long time no see!" Cam said hugging me.
  "Yah." I mumbled hugging Nash.
"So... Just 'cause my little brother was a jerk doesn't mean you should ignore all of us as well." Nash admitted with a sigh.
"Yah... I guess that was wrong of me. I've just been busy as well. After the break up, Prissy was gone and I didn't have anyone to talk to." I said.
"Is that why you're always with those 5 Seconds of Summer dudes?" Cam asked.
  "Yah, I guess. They just became really close to me, that is all." I admitted awkwardly. I didn't want them to feel like they were replaced.
  "Look, I gotta go. I'll see you guys later." I smiled.
"Yah, and Lauren, you look gorgeous." Nash smiled and they waved as I made my way inside.
