My gut told me that I didn't know what to expect when walking into Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. My eyes told me that I knew exactly how it was going to go.
"Move." Pansy Parkinson rammed her shoulder purposly into mine, causing me to wince in pain. My back knocked against the side of the train and I dropped my purse. Behind Pansy were her little first-year followers, snickering. I frowned, watching silently as they passed.
"Nice to see you too, Pansy," I whispered. I shook my head, my blonde curls swishing with the movement, and bent down to pick up my purse. As I did, a group of Slytherins pushed their way down the train's aisle, shoving everyone. Before I could get bombarded, I pushed myself into the nearest compartment quickly.
"Why, hello." A soft voice spoke. I turned around to see peope staring at me. The one who had spoken was a girl a with pale, almost translucent skin, and white-blonde hair. Her eyes were a shocking blue, but her smile was kind. It struck me that it was Luna Lovegood, a girl from my Sixth Year Potions class. "I'm Luna, who are you?" She asked. She must not have remembered me.
"I'm Emalie Lewis." I told the group. Next to the Luna was a boy my age. He was easily a head taller than me with dark messy hair and pretty green eyes. When he looked at me, he smiled, showing a row of awkward teeth. I thought they gave him a little character and smiled back. I recignized him as Neville Longbottom, a friend of the infamous Harry Potter.
"Neville Longbottom. And this is Ginny Weasley." Neville motioned to the girl across from him with bright red, straight hair. She sent me a small smile and I nodded.
"Right, I've seen you around before. You're a sixth year, right?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yes. What year are you? I don't believe I've seen you." She said politely.
"Seventh. I'm a Hufflepuff." I smiled. "I was just going to find someplace to sit when Pansy decided to try and remove my shoulder from the rest of my body." I rubbed the sore body part. "It looks like the Slytherins are very, very confident this year," I grimanced.
"Not for long," Neville growled. "They'll be put in their place. Dumbledore's gone, but now Professor McGonagall will run the school. She hates Slytherins."
"But Professor McGonagall is fair." Ginny told him.
"Exactly. You think the way those snakes treat everyone is fair?" Neville challenged. Ginny said nothing, and Luna was staring at me.
"Would you like to sit with us, Emalie?" She asked. I looked at all three of them. The stories I'd heard were absolutely marvelous. They were brave, talented, smart, and wicked cool. And they were inviting a Hufflepuff of all people to sit with them.
