"Bang... bang... bang..." there was a slow knock at the door. I walk over to the door and look through the window. "Ethan... get your bags now." I said with a slight shake in my voice. "What's out the window Lani? Ethan asked, he opened the curtain, and saw five undead corps, with missing limbs and unhinged jaws. Ethan looked at me and ran to his room to get him bag.
"Okay here's the plan, there are corpses at the front door, back door and mostly all downstairs windows. We are going to leave through the basement and climb through the small opening window down there, got it?" I said to Ethan. He nods his head. I grabbed my back pack and quickly, yet quietly went down to the basement. The window was up higher than Ethan could reach, so we pushed the couch that was down there to under the window.
"Give me my back pack." I tell Ethan. The throws it to me. I open up the window and crawl through. "Okay... grab my hands." I whisper to Ethan. He puts hands up and jumps up from the couch. I pull him up and look around. None of the corpses were around us. "Okay Ethan, we have to go to the car."
I look around one last time. My house... This will be the last time I see it, but this isn't suppose to be about my feeling. I need to protect my brother. And that's what I'm going to do. "When I say go, we are going to make a run for it." Ethan nods. "Ready... Set..." It seemed like an eternity before I said go. I am going to admit, I'm scared to death. "Go." We run to the car, I had the keys in my hand, jingling. I stop in front of the car. With my hands shaking, trying unlock the car. "Lani, QUICK!" Ethan yells. I turn around and see a corpse running towards me. I finally get the key in and we jump in the car.
After a couple hours of driving, I turn around to see Ethan was asleep. I observed the houses as I drove, or at least, what's left of the houses. The zombies had broken into most houses, bitten the humans, and now they are the living dead. It's only been a couple hours, but I haven't seen any LIVING humans. If Ethan and I had still been in the house, we would have been long gone. We would be the ones hunting for... Well, what we are now. Alive. Healthy.
"Ethan wake up." I shake Ethan trying to get him up. "Come on, I found a hotel, were staying here." Before we walked in I examined it, looking to see if any f those hideous, walking dead, monsters were around. Happily, I didn't see any.
I pushed open the heavy metal door, too see that there was no one in sight. We walked up to the elevator, I pressed the button to open the door, and I could see which floors it was on, going from the 5th, to 4th, going down and down. Finally the elevator landed in the lobby. The door opened and before we stepped in, two boys, probably about my age, stood there. Faces white. But one... His cheeks were flushed. Red. His terrified face, turned into a slight smile.
