Dan opened the door to see Phil grinning in a dark blue suit and holding a tiny flower.
"It's not much, but I hope you like it?"
Dan couldn't help but smile. Her dress almost matched Phil's suit – it was a lighter blue, but the sash across the middle was a deep navy.
"I feel like a princess." She murmured, and Phil took her hand, leading her outside.
"You look like one too, Dan."
The prom was a fairly small affair – Dan and Phil were pleased to see Chris and PJ in matching tuxedos, as well as Charlie and Carrie as "platonic dates". The six of them danced together, laughing and enjoying the night.
When the last song came on, Phil pulled Dan up for one last dance together, leading her out into the centre of the floor and ignoring anyone staring at them. A quiet voice and soft guitar filtered through the room, and Phil pulled Dan close, singing quietly along to the words.
"So please, please, please won't you join me" he muttered, and he felt Dan laugh softly.
"Until the very end." Dan sang and they finished the song together as Phil dipped her in an exaggerated move, kissing her gently to muffled cheers from their friends.
