When I catch up to the others they're standing in front of an empty desk. No files, no computer, and most disappointing of it all, nobody. "Guys..." I start, but am cut off by a sharp "ssshhhhh". I don't see the point in ignoring what everyone can plainly see but keep quiet anyways.
Moments later a boy comes forward holding a neat file. "Sorry for the wait, I just had to go in the back and get this." He waves the manila folder for us all to see. I am shocked, one that the library card actually lead us somewhere important, and secondly that there might be a shot of getting out here.
"Jessica Carter, please step forward." Jess looks uneasily back at us before stepping forward, book still in hand. "If you would hand me the book please." She does as he says, watching as he opens to the back of the book and pulls out a card.
He then scans it letting out a loud BEEP from the computer. Moments later Jess is encompassed in light. "Jess!" Clyde yells, stumbling forward to grab onto her. But by the time his hand reaches out the light dissipates, leaving nothing.
"Where is Jess?" Sage asks the boy. The boy gently lays Jess' book in the 'return' pile and types something in the computer. "She's gone, returned back to her family."
