Chapter Three: Goodbyes
Looking up from the letter, she asked out loud, "'Things are not as they seem'? What is that suppose to mean? Mom?"
After blinking away her tears, Jenni looked away before replying. "I don't know, but they are wise words."
"Yeah, dad was a wise man." Emma said back.
"He was indeed." Her mom said wistfully, "Why don't you go finish packing? We leave tomorrow morning."
"That soon?! Mom I need time to say goodbye to my friends!"
"Which you can do at school today, which you're late for by the way, so let's go."
Emma quickly grabs her backpack, goes out to the car, and gets into the passenger seat. Jenni gets into the driver seat, and starts driving to the school.

"What?! No Emma you can't leave!" Haley, one of her friends, said.
"Yeah. Just come live with me!" Her other friend Eric suggested.
"You know that I can't do that to my mom. We have been there for each other ever since my dad and the Apollo's died." Emma said sadly to her friends, remembering the hard times the two had gone through together.
"Yeah we understand." Jessi, another friend, said to her. "We're just going to really miss you." Her eyes start to fill with tears, but Emma quickly hugs her before she starts crying too.
The bell for the end of lunch rings, and Emma wishes that the rest of the day will go by as slow as possible.

All too soon, Emma is outside of the school giving all her friends one last hug, before possibly never seeing them again.
"I'm really gonna miss you guys." She says, not bothering to stop the tears, as they flow freely down her cheeks. She quickly wipes them away before they do one last group hug, before she walks to her mom's car.
"Stay in touch!" Haley yells. And Emma turns around.
"Of course!" She gets in the car, and her mom gives her a sad look, hating to see her daughter crying.
"I know it's hard baby, but we have no other choice, and if we did then I'd do anything so we could stay here."
"I know mom, and I understand it's just that these are the few friends I've made, and I don't want what happened when I first came here to happen at the new school." Emma says sadly, remembering all the people that bullied her, called her ugly, fat, and so on. They had completely ruined her self-confidence, and that's why she was so shy and closed off.
"If that does happen you tell me immediately ok? I don't want that happening to you again sweetheart."
"Yeah I will, I don't want to go through that again either." Emma says as they pull up in their driveway. Climbing out of the car, Emma goes to shut the car door, but before she does she tells her mom that she will be in her room. After her mom said 'Okay', Emmalee went upstairs and into her room. Quickly changing out of her school clothes and into her suitcase, she looked around the barren room. The boxes and all of the furniture had already been sent off to be moved to Le Ray while she was at school, and all that was left was a few days worth of clothes for them and sleeping bags.
Emma thinks back to all the times she spent in this room with her friends. Having movie nights, or just hanging out, even doing homework together. A wave of nostalgia washes over her at the thought of all of them never being together again. Although she's understands they have to leave.
As tears cloud her vision, she grabs a comfy outfit, she laid down on her makeshift bed, and listen to some music till she fell asleep.

"Wake up! We need to load up the rest of the stuff and start the drive to Le Ray!" Syd's mom says cheerfully.
Sydney groans before throwing the covers off of her. She pulls her suitcase closer to her and grabs a pair of leggings, a white tank top, and her dad's old leather jacket, with a pair furry Ugg boots. Throwing on that outfit and shoving the rest of her things into her huge suitcase and 'carry on' bag, she zipped it up and looked around the room, making sure it was empty.
Thinking it was, Syd picked up the bags and turned towards the door ready to leave, when something golden had caught her eye. Setting down her things, she walked over to the corner and kneeled down. Reaching down, she pulled out the thing. It was a necklace. The one Ryder had given her, the day he left. It had a gold chain, with a small diamond heart surrounded that has a gold outline. On the back were Ryder's initials. R. A.
Putting it on, Sydney stood up, grabbed her things, and went downstairs. She found her mom outside loading the rest of their things in the car. Helping her, Syd loaded her things before going and getting into the car with her mom, with her 'carry on' bag. Pulling out her tablet and red Beat Pro headphones. She settled back into the seat with her headphones on. Getting comfortable for the long ride ahead, she logged into her tablet, opened Wattpad, and started reading.
