Chapter Six: First Days

"Mom, do I really have to go?"

"Yes, you have to go to school."

"Why?"

Currently Emma was seeing if she could get out of going to school and facing the fact that she really had moved away from the city of LA, and now was in the middle of nowhere, in the state of New York.

"Because if you ever want to do something with your life, you are going to need at least a high school diploma. Now get up and get ready, or you're going to be late." Emma's mom says before walking out of her room.

Emma slowly gets up out of bed and heads to her bathroom to take a shower, and get ready for the miserable day she anticipates it will be.

"Have a good day sweetie, and remember if anything happens you'll tell me ok?" Jenni says to Emma.

"Yeah I promise, bye mom." Emma gives her mom a kiss on the cheek before getting out of the car and heading towards the office to get her schedule, locker number, and then meet up with Liv.

"You got your schedule?" Someone asked, making Emmalee jump and turn. Seeing it was just Liv, she nodded. "Let me see!"

Emma hands her schedule over, while Liv looks at it she looks around the hallway to see that many people are looking at her strangely. As this is a small town and not many new people come here.

"So we have 1, 2, 5, and lunch together!"

"Great..." She replied back, still looking around.

"Are you even listening to me?" Asked Liv, after having asked Emma a question about her old school and it's workings.

Startled, she looked up, and noticed Olivia looking at her expectedly. "Huh?"

"That says it all..." Mumbled Liv. "Anyway, as I was saying what was your old school like?"

"Oh, it was like..." And with that, someone bumped into Emma while she was walking and talking. Turning so she could say sorry, she wasn't given the chance.

"Watch where your going, new girl!" The girl spat, then turned to walk away. Not going to let this happen again, Emma thought to herself

"Hey!" Emmalee yelled out, causing the whole hallway to stop and see the show down between Miss Popular and the New Girl. "Why don't you watch where you're going, and stop blaming the person you bumped into and apologize to them. Because we know that you do this a lot," Emma saw some nod, but most looked shocked and amazed by this new girl standing up to the Queen Bee of the school. Taking a bow, she said, "Thank you, I'll be here all week!" To which many let out a chuckle. Then she turned to a shell-shocked Olivia and asked what they were talking about.

Hearing a gasp go though the hallway, Emma ducked just in time, to miss the Queen Bee's weak punch. To bad for Ms. Popular, Emma had taken self defense classes, and had learn to be on edge and use her senses, to protect herself. The self defense classes had been her dad's idea. Slowly turning around, she saw the sicken looks on everyone's faces and the pissed off look on the girl's face. "What?" Emma asked impatient, just wanting to go to class and get back to her bed.

"No one, and I mean no one, says something like to me and gets away with it. Who are you to think you will?" The girl screeched.

"I'm Emmalee Caroline Black Garson, but I go by Emma. Who might you be?" She said, cocking a hip and looking at her nails, before looking back up.

"C-Caitlyn Luken. D-Did you say Garson? As in Annabella Garson?" Caitlyn asked shocked, along with the rest of the hall, including Olivia. Olivia, not because the relationship between the two but, because the familiarness of the name.

"Yes, that's my grandmother." She said, before walking away to her next class.

The rest of the day was spent with people staring at her in awe and amazement. Even the teachers were shocked to hear that Annabella Garson lost daughter had daughter, for no one had heard from Jenni since she went away for college. Finally Emmalee reached her lunch period, only to experience the whole cafeteria going quite when she and Olivia walked in. Letting out a quite, frustrated scream, she said to the cafeteria, "I'm not some lost princess, so stop starring at me like one!" Before going over to an empty table with Olivia in tow. When she sat down, the cafeteria finally started talking again, with a few stealing glimpses at Emma, only to get glared at when she caught them.

"That was quiet some show you put on this morning and just now." Someone said, after putting down their tray and sitting down, next to Olivia, who was sitting across her. Looking up from her lunch and phone, Emmalee just stared at the guy, asking who he was with her eyes. "Emma, right?" She gave a slight nod, before he continued. "I'm Alexander, call me Alex, and I'm Olivia's boyfriend." Emma turned her attention to Liv, who confirmed with a nod to her and a smile to her boyfriend.

"Okay then." She said, then leaned in, "Why does everyone keep staring at me, like I'm famous?" This question has been bugging her since the first time she said her full name, but she hadn't been able to ask it till now.

"Well..." Olivia started, only to look to Alex for help.

"Because you kinda are." Alex helped Liv out, only to get a confused look from Emmalee. "Your grandmother, Annabella Garson, right?" Syd gave a nod. "She's, well to put it bluntly, the richest women of all New York. The state. And she had a daughter, named Jennifer Garson."

"My mother."

"Yeah, your mother. She was born and raised here. But when she went away to college, no one ever heard from her again. And Annabella never said anything about her or where she went, when she left once a year, maybe twice, around the time of your mother's birthday. The whole town thought that she had died, for it was rumored that a body was found a few towns over, but no solid evidence ever emerged."

"You guys mean to tell me, that the whole town thought that my mom is- was dead?" Emma asked, sicken at the thought of not just losing her dad and grandpa, Daren Garson, but her mom, too.

"Yeah..." Liv replied back, not knowing how to answer the question, knowing that Emmalee might blow. If her past experience were anything to go on.

She wasn't disappointed, because not a moment later, Emma stood up and yelled out to the whole room, "Well, she ain't dead! You hear that? My mother, Jennifer Garson, is not... Dead!" Sydney said, spitting out the word 'dead', before storming out of the room.

"She got a temper, doesn't she?" Alex asked his girlfriend, to which she nodded.
