Robinwing helped Stoneclaw and Silverwing keep track of their kits as they made their way to the mooncave. Ashkit kept trying to run off, and even with the three of them together, it was difficult to keep him from running into danger.
"Are we almost there?" Rosekit asked. She was more than excited to meet Rainpaw and Thorncloud, as she hoped to be a medicine cat. Robinwing watched her closely, making sure that she didn't get too caught up in worrying about her brother that she, too, put herself in danger.
"Hello, MudClan! I've been expecting you." Rainpaw greeted them. Robinwing noticed that his mentor, Thorncloud, wasn't there.
"What's happened to Thorncloud? Is he... Is he gone?" Owlflight asked. Rainpaw nodded, sadness flooding his eyes.
"It was his time. He was old." Rainpaw replied. "I am now full moon cat. I will be known as Rainstorm."
Owlflight looked sad. Rainstorm didn't say anything to him though, instead turning to Silverwing and Stoneclaw. "Could it hurt to make your kits apprentices a quarter moon early?" He asked. "It's your choice, but I believe that they should be apprenticed as soon as possible."
Stoneclaw nodded in agreement. "That could work." He agreed. "What do you think?"
"I suppose." Silverwing curled her tail around Rosekit. "But what about this one? She wants to be medicine cat. Who will teach her with Brownfur gone?"
"There is another medicine cat on the island." Rainstorm said. "You will soon be with her. Until then, she will be apprenticed to a warrior."
Stripedstar nodded her agreement. "Stoneclaw will mentor Rosepaw. Owlflight will mentor Ashpaw."
Robinwing blinked slowly. That was nowhere near what a proper apprentice ceremony should sound like. Parents weren't supposed to mentor their kits, but he guessed that Stripedstar ignored that because of their shortage of warriors. He had been apprenticed to his father, so he supposed Rosepaw could be too. It was all temporary anyway.
Rosepaw looked uneasy, probably thinking the same things that Robinwing was. Ashpaw looked excited, fidgeting with his paws, looking as if he was already ready to patrol the territory. Owlflight touched noses with the apprentice, taking him by surprise.
Robinwing almost laughed, but something happened. An overwhelming feeling of dread took over his mind, making him feel dizzy. What's happening? He gasped a pathetic meow to the others before he collapsed to the ground, panting heavily, and sleep overtook him.
He was standing in an endless plain of snow. Snow blew so wildly around that he could hardly make out the shape of a cat in front of him. A simple ginger and grey blur told him that she was walking towards him.
"Robinwing," She began. "When the river stops running, cats lost in the stars will return to shine light on the shade that has covered the island."
"What?" Robinwing gasped. "Hello?" The shape of the cat had disappeared from the snow. He attempted to trudge through the deep snow, but suddenly, it broke beneath him. He fell, crushing through the ground into a pool of black water.
Shapes danced around him. Hundreds of cats clashed in battle, while scents of both MudClan and GreenClan swirled with rogue, kittypet, and another smell he couldn't describe. Robinwing spotted Owlflight and Bloodshed nearby, battling furiously. More cats that he recognized were there; Cloudpool and Coldwind were battling side by side with a ShadeClan warrior twice their size. Then, a voice rang in his ears.
"Robinwing! Robinwing, wake up!" He was lurched out of his thoughts by Rainstorm's voice. "Are you okay? Can you hear me?"
Robinwing groaned. "I think... I think I've received a prophecy."
