My Miracle

Chapter 2

Dark sky was looming over, leaves were flying all over as the cold wind was harshly blowing. A 10 year old Seohyun was at the swing at a playground near her house, she was alone humming her favorite keroro theme song.

"Joohyun!" a voice calls her from a distance

She immediately brightens up as soon as she sees the person calling, rushing towards her. She waves her hand, signaling him to come over.

"Hey! What are you doing here all alone?" He asks as he sits on the swing beside hers

"Nothing, I like the cold wind outside" she answers timidly

"I looked for you at your house, but Yoona and the others said you went outside. I wanted to talk to you" he says looking at her seriously

She was glued to his eyes as he rarely looks so serious.

"What is it?" She asks him

"We're going somewhere far away. Me and my family" he says looking at the ground

"Okay. When will you come back?" She asks smiling

"We're not" he looks up at her as he answers

The smile on her face immediately faded, she stops swinging.

"But you said we're all going to grow up together. Go to High School and College together too" she says as tears slowly stream down her face

"I know but... I'm really sorry Joohyun" he stands up in front of her and rubs the top of her head.

"You promised" Joohyun's face now a mess

"I know I did. But we'll see each other again in the future, I promise. And when we see each other again, we'll be adults and I'm going to marry you. Okay?" he smiles at her

Joohyun looks up at him and sniffs "Okay" she smiles sadly

Joohyun stands and hugs him, he hugs her back and rain slowly starts to fall.

"Let's go" he holds her hand and runs toward Joohyun's house before the rain gets stronger.

"We made it" she says and checks herself

*honk honk* a white car honks in front of them, windows rolled down

"Yonghwa let's go. We can't afford to be late for our flight" his mother calls him

He looks at Joohyun who was looking at him with hurt in her eyes.

"You're going now? You didn't tell me that!" She half-screams at him again tears starts running down her cheeks.

Yoona, Yuri and Tiffany who are Joohyun's cousins comes out of the house.

"Take care you guys. Joohyun, take care okay. See you" and with that, he runs towards the waiting car and speeds off into the rain.

"I'll wait for you Yonghwa" she screams after him as Thunder and lightning strikes the sky, she screams once again and cower in her cousins' arms.

Joohyun bolts upright from her bed. She holds her head in between her hands.

She thought of her dream and how it has hunted her for the past 15 years of her life. She waited for him until 5 years ago where she finally told herself that he wasn't coming back, she was 25 now and that all of that was just a child's promise.
