'For generations of high-schoolers, you could only be a jock, a geek, a princess, a bully or a basket case. But times have changed. Jocks play video games. Princesses are on antidepressants. And geeks basically run the country. I thought we were living in a brave new world, a place without labels. But every so often, there's that one moment in high school that changes your perspective on everything'
"Hey Allison" smiled Lydia and Kira in unison as they cruised towards me down the hall, ignoring the boys who were practically falling to their knees when they walked past.
"Hey guys" I waved. Lydia, Kira and I have been pretty much best friends since the dawn of time, they were the definition of perfect. Kira was the captain of the girls lacrosse team, she has been offered sports scholarships to colleges all over the country, and she plays violin. Lydia on the other hand was the head of all things 'fashion', her mother was an editor for Glamor magazine, and apparently Marc Jacobs asked her to model one of his latest summer outfits.
"Did you hear what happened to that girl Hayden Romero?" Kira asked.
"Yeah, apparently she lost her virginity to that kid Liam Dunbar, he's such a little asshole" Lydia sighed whilst checking her nails.
"I can't believe he filmed it" I mumbled as we trailed down the hall.
"Hey Lydia, hey Kira" said Stiles Stilinski, with a love sick trailed on his face. He's probably had a crush on Lydia since third grade and he still hasn't plucked up the courage to talk to her. Every so often he stroll over to me and ask if she was still single though.
"Hey Lydia, Kira" Mr Harris, our headmaster greeted us and my two best friends gave him a quick smile.
"Hey, Mr Harris" I smiled, but his face went from 'happiest guy on the planet' to 'I have no idea who you are, leave me alone creepy stalker chick'.
"Hey... You" he nodded and walked into his office awkwardly.
"Oh incoming" Lydia said quickly.
Oh great, mini Stalin dead ahead. Meet Malia Hale, as she would tell you herself, she's the hottest girl in school. Even the gay guys want to date her. How do I even begin to explain Malia Hale? she's flawless, her dad is a hollywood producer and her mom is a personal stylist, I even heard her hair was insured for over $10,000, Justin Bieber met her on a plane and told her she was gorgeous. She hit poor Jennifer Blake once, Jennifer said it was awesome.
"Girls party at my place?" Malia smirked, handing Lydia and Kira each an invite, "I'm sure you've already heard about it"
"Wait, you're having the party today?" I asked, "A Wednesday... A school night"
"Oh, yeah I can do that... Whoever you are" Malia shrugged.
"Hey guys" a loud, deep voice called out. As if this day could get any worse.
You know those people you grow up with? You live next to them and you can't even go down the block on your own so you're forced to hang out with the neighbour's kid and you are really close till about the age when you have the brain power to realise they're sociopathic assholes with bad relationship choices and an obsession with 'working out'. Now they just annoy the shit out of you. Yeah? I give you Scott McCall.
"Hey Scotty" Malia smiled, pulling her on and off boyfriend into a rough, sloppy kiss which he was clearly unprepared for. When she was finished with him she pushed him away and gave him a sharp slap in the face, "You're still my ex-boyfriend, Scott, you juvenile dipshit" she hissed before kissing his cheek and strutting away.
Talk about mixed signals...
"That's a healthy relationship you've got going on there" Kira sighed as she stared Scott up and down. I don't know what girls found so 'mesmerising' about Scott, true, he was the captain of the football team, had all the looks, an amazing body (not that I've been looking or anything), but the guy was an idiot.
