Let go!

After the fight we don't talk through the whole ride. I find myself being hypnotized to the trees and houses passing by through the window.

It's an awkward silence.... I try to cough a few times to break the silence, but all I get are a few annoyed glances from Jane.

So I ease my way into a conversation," How much longer now?"

She sighs and answers after a few seconds," Depends."

" On what?" I push.

" If we get attacked again."

" Oh..." I say," Well are we going to stop to eat or something? I'm getting hungry...."

"And..." I continue," I have to pee."

She sighs loudly and turns into McDonald's.

"Thanks" I say plainly.
I open the door and stretch my legs. I have no idea how long I have been in that frickin car, but it sure was long enough.

"Aren't you coming?" I question.

"Really?" She spits at me," I don't think people would react normally if they saw my paper white skin,Mel," She hands me 20 dollars," just get me a number two or something."

"Oh... Ok."

I close the door and walk up to the entrance.
I swing the door open and let the smell of greasy foods fill my nostrils.
I used to hate McDonalds... But right now, this smells wonderful.
When was the last time I ate at a restaurant?

'the day before my parents died...,'I think to my self.

No... We're not doing this right now.

I shake my head and walk up to a worker. She has beautiful brown hair, but the ugliest frown on.
she looks like she would rather be stabbed then work here.

"Hello, welcome to McDonald's. How may I help you," she says with no expression whatsoever.

"Uh... Just a number two with a bottled water and uh.... A number 5 with a bottled water as well." I stumble.

"That all?"

" Yes, thank you...," I look at her name tag," thank you Lola."

I give her a quick smile and walk over to a wall to lean on.

As I wait for the food I look around. There's barely anybody here. Which is weird cause when I was a kid, McDonald's was always full.
I squint my eyes and look at the clock. It is 12:00... So why isn't it busy?

Oh come on Mel, Don't make this more then it is. It's just a little empty, no big deal.

" A number two and 5 with bottled waters!" A women interrupts me.

"Uh, here." I walk over slowly and grab the bag of food.
The women grabs my hand to stop me and I squeal with surprise.

"Uh... Hi...." I stumble embarrassed.

" What's your name sweat heart." She says... she doesn't even say it like a question.

" M-Mel." I say scared.

The women has blonde hair in a bun... looks to be around 60.
So why does she want to know me?

" Let go." I panic.

She lets go immediately and looks confused," Sorry my dear... I don't know what came over me."

" Have a nice day..." She says walking away puzzled.

I pick up the bag and rush out of the restaurant.

I look behind my shoulder before I open the car door and then slide in.

" Took you long enough." She sighs at me.

What just happened...? Was she controlled or... I don't know.

" You look like you've seen a ghost." She laughs biting into her burger.

"Yeah..." I laugh lightly," let's just,uh, go... Please"

She stops and looks at me," Mel... What happened?"

"Nothing."

"Tell me."

"I saw nothing" I persist.

"Liar," she pauses," Hurry up and tell me before we get into another fight."

I don't say anything.... But I know I'll have to talk sooner or later, so I mind as well say it know.

"There was this woman..." I began," She grabbed my arm and was asking me what my name was... and when i told her to let go... she did it, but when she did she looked confused. She didn't know why she did that."

She didn't say anything.

" Jane..." I question.

" Jane you're scaring me." I breathe out.

She turns slowly to me and whispers," Offenderman is coming.... for you."
