"Ali wake up." Was the first thing that Alison heard before she realized that Alex was shaking her awake. Naturally she was disgusted and was wondering why he was touching her even in the slightest, or why he was even in her cabin... well it was really his cabin but she was already opposed to sleeping on the same boat with him, so she really wasn't about to sleep In the same room with him. She knew that that's exactly what she would be doing within a few weeks but she just wasn't ready to start now, especially when she didn't have to. So she threw a big tantrum until he finally gave in and slept elsewhere. That's usually how Alison got her way in this relationship, and she noted that it might be a very valuable trick in the future.

She yawned and stretched. As she did so she noticed that it was still dark out.

"Alex what the hell are you doing in here it's the middle of the night!" She said in an angry quick whisper. She was more irritated when she noticed that he was in his night clothes as well.

"I couldn't sleep" he said.

"That's not my problem!"

"Well I was just wondering if we.....if we could talk.  He said the words as if he was a lost school boy. He wouldn't meet her eyes as he asked the question and he asked in a small and timid voice.

This made her have to wonder what he wanted. " What about?" She asked in a very suspicious voice.

She waited a few moments for his reply. He still had his head down as he started to speak, his voice was broken. "Wh-why do you hate me s-so much?"

Alison was dumbfounded, She didn't know what to say. She wanted to be angry, to slap him again, to ask him why he woke her up in the middle of the night to ask her something he already knew the answer to. But instead she felt kind of bad because he looked sincere and as if his question was genuine, and he sounded as if he was going to cry.

"My gosh you, you really don't know do you?" She never thought she would see him like this, not acting so conceded, looking so vulnerable sitting on her bed in front of her. He slowly rose his head and began to speak.

" Well yes I know what you've told me, but it doesn't seem like enough for you to despise me as much as you do."

"Really?"

"Really."

Alison contemplated what to say next, she didn't want to just go off completely because he was clearly being serious, but she had to give him some sort of explanation. She took his hands prepared to actually have a rational discussion with her soon to be spouse. She was surprised with herself. "Me, Rational?" she laughed at the thought. But as she opened her mouth to speak there was a commotion outside, some one shouted something muffled. They both jumped as one of the sailors burst through the door. He turned red.

"Sorry to interrupt sir erm but an unidentified ship has been spotted."

"Thank you Hobbs." Alex turned to Alison, "We'll talk later?" He asked her.

"Of course" She said. Then unexpectedly of course Alex kissed her forehead and departed. She got up to, to see what all the fuss was about, and as Alison walked through the door she had a strange feeling that she and Alexander would not get to finish their discussion later.

And she was right.
