Chapter 4: The Fields at Night

Monday Evening
Addy's pov:
"Do you want to eat or shower first?" I asked Kate as we walked into the dugout to get our bags. We just ended our last training session of the day.
"Can we walk back and shower first cause I don't want to go eat dinner all sweaty and gross."
"Okay, sounds good." I said pulling my phone out of my bag. I threw my bag over my shoulder and checked my phone to find a text from Jaden.
(Henline😏 is what Jaden put his contact as in Addy's phone the night before)
Henline😏: Hey text me when you guys are done.
"Who's that?" Kate asked even though she suspected it was Jaden.
"No one." I said smiling.
I texted him back:
Me: Hey! We just got done why?
I went to put my phone in my pocket when it went off. It was Jaden.
"That was fast!" Kate said smiling.
"Oh shut up!" I said hitting her.

Henline😏: I was just wondering if you wanted to do something tonight?
Me: Yeah! Details?
Henline😏: I'm not really sure I was thinking we could just go for a walk or something after dinner.
Henline😏: And Cole keeps bugging me cause he wants to come. I think he has a thing for Kate. Haha is that okay?
Me: Yeah! That sounds great!
Henline😏: Meet us outside the cafeteria around like 5 ish?
Me: We'll be there☺️
I told Kate and we went into the bathrooms to get showers.
I was wearing jean shorts and a red tournament shirt with black and white vans. I kept my hair down. Kate put her hair up in a bun and was wearing cropped leggings with my black free runs and a Panthers shirt. That was the team Kate and I played for, The Pennsylvania Panthers.

"Jaden said that he thinks Cole liked you." I said smirking.
"He does not." Kate said blushing.
"I don't know..Do you like him?" I asked her.
"No!" She said quickly. She wasn't just blushing anymore her face was as red as my shirt.
"Oh c'mon y'all would be so cute together!"
She just kept looking at the ground and didn't answer me.

We were sitting at a big table with my whole team eating dinner. "Kate we should probably go soon." I said looking at my phone. It was 4:52.
"Why, where are you going?" Grace asked.
Kate quickly jumped in. "We rented a movie on my laptop and it comes on soon."
We both looked at each other and stood up to go dump our trays. "Why'd you do that?"  I asked.
"Do you want them to know you have a date with Jaden Henline?"
"First off it's not a date, and what does it matter?"
"Addy he's Jaden Henline. They won't leave you alone!"
"Well we can't lie to them!" I said as we walked out the door. Not too long after Jaden and Cole walked out the cafeteria doors.
"Heyyyyy Beautiful!"  Jaden said smiling.
"Hey Jaden" I said blushing.
"Hi Kate.." Cole said. He seemed nervous.
"How's it going Cole?"
We started walking down the sidewalk. We walked and talked the whole way down to the fields.
"Wanna just go run around on the field?" Cole asked.
"Yeah sure!" I said. We all started running to the fields and climbed over the fence, even though we could've just went through the gate but that would be boring. I climbed over the fence and turned around. Jaden was so close I felt like they're wasn't any room to breathe. He looked me dead in the eyes and said "Betcha can't catch me." And took off running. I laughed and started running after him. I could tell he wanted me catch him, I knew he could run way faster than that. I stepped in front of him. "Your so childish! ...I think it's adorable." I said smiling. He blushed.
"Look." He said quietly pointing behind me. I turned around to see Cole and Kate standing by the fence on the other side of the outfield. Kate was looking up at him. "They look so cute together." I said.
"I wonder what they're talking about.." Jaden said.
We snuck over right behind each of them and screamed: "WHATCHA TALKING ABOUT?" And they both jumped. Jaden and I died of laughter.
"I hate you Henline!" Cole yelled and playfully pushed him. Kate was laying on the ground. "You two scared the shit out of me!" She said and I just laughed. We all laid down beside her to watch the stars come out as it started to get dark.
I could feel Jaden staring at me. I looked over at him.
"The stars are so pretty." I whispered some what breaking the silence.
"Yeah they are, but they're no where near as pretty as you."
"Jadennn..stooppp." I said blushing. We both looked back up at the sky, and I thought to myself: We should come to the fields at night more often.
