If you need a recap, read the last few pages of the last chapter, Sorry for taking so long I was traveling :D
Tobias POV
I try to pretend that Uriah isn't standing there, looking at me, with my arm wrapped around the person we're supposed to be stealing from, but I can't help but notice his slack jaw gaping at me.
I avoid his eyes, and keep them on the floor as Tris speaks into the phone without glancing at Uriah. When Uriah is no longer in shock, he starts mouthing things to me, but I ignore him, and instead, try and focus on the content time
I just had with Tris.
The temptation to kiss Tris' temple which is displayed directly to my right is reminding me over and over again that she's just been through a tough break-up and obviously immediately can't start dating again. Let alone she can't start dating me.
If she did, she'd have to devote her life to complete secrecy, or I'd have to get a *shudder* job.
But I just can't imagine my life without her. Her soft, warm touch and her adorable, cute quirks- they can't just be distant memories.
"Yeah? Room 406?" Tris says into the phone, "Can you bring the key there? Okay thanks"
She presses the end button and shoves the phone into her pocket, "We should start moving. We're two floors up"
"How many suitcases did you pack?"
Uriah keeps his eyes steady on me.
"Two-One for my clothes and one for my manuscript and my books and laptop and other fun stuff" she says, unlocking the door.
Inside, it's fairly neat, aside some strewn clothes.
As we transfer clothes into their bags, I dare to ask, "Have you and Al ever......"
"Ever what?"
"You know....."
"No, I don't"
"Have sex?" I blurt out.
She stars at me for a de seconds, blush creeping on her cheeks. She goes back to works, and mutters, "No. When we tried, it was always the drinks or drugs that controlled him. I wanted it to be for love, you know? Not for satisfaction."
She zips up the zipper of the suitcase, "Have you?"
"Not with Al" I smirk. She rolls her eyes and brings the suitcase in its wheels, as I zip another suitcase up.
"You know what I mean, silly"
"No. There aren't very many girls where I live. And it's just not appealing to me now"
She nods, and we grab all her things and head out to floor Four. Ha, what a coincidence since my name is Four.
Uriah is completely gone, and I assume he's told Zeke what I've been doing, who I'm with, and the fact that I completely ignored him (or at least, tried to)
We roll out suitcases when the elevator sings, and drag it six doors down, where a man with a key waits.
"Beatrice Prior?"
"In the flesh"
They have her sign a paper and then she pushes the door open as the man leaves.
It's nice; nearly the same as Christina's. Small kitchen, little couch area, and a bedroom connected to a bathroom.
"Cozy" I say, nodding.
"Yeah"
She smiles, warming my heart. It gives me a sensation I felt I haven't had in a while. This sense of happiness.
She is freed from the chains of Al's treachery, so of course she's happy.
She plops down on the couch, "A lot smaller, but I'll deal"
I smile back at her, the happiness engulfing me. She's single, and she could mingle with me.
"You're a lot more beautiful now" I say suddenly.
She looks up at me, shocked, "Oh. Thank you"
The cute rosy blush appears on her cheeks. I wish I could kiss them, kiss every part of her.
But I can't.
I have to take my time.

Coming back to the compound wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. And expecting it wouldn't be easy, made it feel almost impossible. I had Max ridicule me, and I almost got a punishment, until I explained I was the distraction. I retreated to my room, where though Zeke was absent, Uriah took his place.
"What the hell, Four? Flirting with the target?"
I place my hand on my forehead, "You wouldn't understand, Uriah"
"I think I damn well understand. Are you leaving us?"
"What? No! Uriah, it's just.....she's...."
"What, Four, what?" He asks.
"She's just someone from my past I'd like to keep close" I say, retreating to my bed.
Uriah pesters me once again, "Wait wait wait! From your past?"
I nod.
"Do you....like her?"
"Of course not. We're just friends"
Uriah's lips twitch into a smile, and I fear what comes next, as he says, "You do like her"
I don't protest.
"God, I'm sorry Four. I didn't know you were chasing love"
"I'm not" he says.
"Does she like someone else or-"
"No Uriah. It just can't work" I say, "Did you get anything? I told Max I was a distraction"
-
"while you weren't looking I stole a necklace"
He says.
"Uriah!"
He defensively shrugs, holding his hands in the air, "I can't come back with nothing"
"Can I just sleep?"
"Fine. But I'm using this against you later"
