Titania's pov
I remember the day.
The day I was abandoned.
Left alone to fend for myself.
I was only five. It was my first and only memory at the time. Everything before that is lost. But everything after can not be forgotten.
It was a cold morning still before dawn. . .
*flashback*
I was being held by someone warm, I couldn't see very well due to the early morning darkness. It was a very cold winter. I snuggled into the warm flesh and green cloak that was holding me a bit more. I felt my self being jostled as the person I was being held by ran.  In the far distance I saw a slight array of reds and oranges in the sky, as the sun started to show. It allowed me to see a very tall grey wall, that was slowly becoming smaller.

I could hear ragged panting breathes of my carrier. I pushed my face deeper into the shoulder of the person, trying to resume my blissful sleep. Instead my face was tickled by long orange hair.

I giggled before wiping the hair from my face. We past massive trees that started to hide my view of the wall. We weaved in and out of the trees. I felt the lady slowing down, before coming to a stop. Her ragged pants made me turn to check on her. Her face was red and sweaty, with pieces of her hair in front of it. But I could still see her panicking blue eyes.

The ground shuddered. At first it was small, then it started to become more noticeable.

"oh shit." The lady mumbled. Her head turned from side to side frantically. I had started to worry, adults aren't supposed to be scared. She started running to the base of one of the trees. When I looked closely it had a little hollow at the base, it was just big enough to move in.

She stuck me in there, ripping her warmth away from me and left me in the cold cavity of the tree. By now the shuddering was much worse. She knelt down to me and looked me in the eyes.

"Listen to me. You have to stay quiet. Not a peep, no matter what you see or hear.

From this moment on you are alone.

But you are important, you are the key to the war.

These are most likely my final words so remember,

Out here its kill or be killed." With that she left. I didn't really understand all of what she said that well back then. But I got the basics.

Be quiet. I'm alone. I'm important. And live.

I watched as she ran.

The shudders started lifting pebbles. Turn to the left I saw the most terrifying being my eyes will ever witness. Multiple, ten meter, giant humans. Their horrific smiles that looked too big on their face. They sprinted to my saviour. When they got closer instead of continuing to run she leapt at them.

She skilfully manoeuvred her gear around the beasts. Slicing them with precision on the nape of the neck. Any other injuries that she made on the beasts weakened them, but didn't majorly affect them.

She was doing amazingly well, but she was facing too many beasts. One of them grabbed her string making her swing violently into a tree branch. I had to bite my hand to keep from screaming out to her. Tears welled in my eyes as I watched the monster grab her upper half.

It brought her towards its insane smile. I watched as she struggled, unable to grab her swords with her arms immobile. It tilted its head and opened its mouth, dangling her legs in. With a malicious snap and a tortured scream it ate her legs. Tears streamed down my face as I watched her being eaten. I held my bile down as best as I could, knowing I could not attract attention with my retches.

I watched as they left after finishing eating. When I knew they were far away I crawled out and opened my mouth. Gagging noises echoed around me as my throat burned from the bile. Once all the food was out of my system I sat back and looked at the blood stains, which use to be my saviour. I sat and cried silent sobs.

I didn't know what to do. How could I protect myself? Where was I? What would happen to me? Would someone find me?

"From this moment on you are alone" her voice echoed in my head. No. no one would find me. I was stuck here. In the land of monsters.

I took deep breathes, calming myself. I was a kid. Kids listened to adults. So with that I would follow her last words. Kill or be killed. I didn't want to die. So I needed to think logically and seriously. I couldn't play games or be childish anymore. I stood up. So what do I need to survive?

-Food

-House

-Weapons

-Clothes

I need to find somewhere that has food. Animals and plants. I need to find somewhere that can't be attacked by the giants. The top of the trees or underground. I need something I can protect myself with, from animals and giants. The swords she dropped. I need clothes for warmth of the winter days.

With these thoughts I ran over to the discarded swords, wiped the blood off. Weapons check. Next would be food. But the giants could stumble upon me at any moment. So that meant. . . I looked up at the tree. I needed to travel above them to avoid death. I had nowhere to put the sword as the holder was on her when she was eaten.

I looked around. Nothing. I looked at the trees. The lowest branch on them was at least fifteen meters up and they were too think to wrap around to climb up. I looked at everything I could possibly use to climb these trees. I have sticks, leaves, shrubs, the clothes I was wearing, shoes and one sword. I look at the tree. There aren't any things on the tree I can grip on and I need another sword if I am to climb with it.

I got it!

I grabbed and cut out five shrubs, cutting off the side branches leaving the thickest branch. I tie them together. I put the sap from the cut off branches onto the knots and waited to ensure it hardened properly. In the end I had a rope like structure that fit around the tree and I. I tied the last bit together, to form a circle.

I hesitantly leaned against the rope to create tension and test its strength. Wouldn't want it to break half way up the tree. I had made an extra rope that I put over my right shoulder and left hip. I stabbed the sword through it to hold, so it had hung over my back looking like a scabbard. I put my first foot against the tree and pushed. The tension keeping me from falling.

I walk at a slow, bit by bit, until the ropes' length stops me. How for the hard part. I have to release the tension and more the rope up to allow me to continue up. Its ok I'm only four steps up. Quickly I release it and move it up wards. But without the tension I slip a little and panic. But am quickly stabilised.

After a few more tries I had the motions down and was climbing at a good pace. After a bit I reach the first branch and sit down, out of breath. That took more effort than I thought and was a strain on my five year old body. Even if I was intellectually older I still have the body of a five year old, which came with all its limits as well.

Once I got my breath I looked around to give me a hint on which direction to go. I saw endless trees in every direction. A quiet barely noticeable thud is heard. I am about to dismiss it but then comes another one. It sounds like the giants feet. I look around and see a figure in the distance. It is slowly coming this way.

At least now I had a direction. With that I started jumping quickly in the opposite direction to the beast.
