As Nina looked at the two men staring at her with fear and disgust. "And when exactly did you get here?" Said who must had been the headmaster. "I've been here for a while but I am just now coming in to school today." Nina replied taken aback. "You're the one from America, are you not?" Said the scary one as he stood out of his chair. "Yes, yes I am." Nina said with more strength in her words as she continued speaking, "and I would love to get my class schedule and someone to show me around school if you don't mind, because if you haven't noticed I am new here." She crossed her arms and smirked as she saw they're dumbfounded faces at her boldness. "Y-y-yes of course we can get you a tour guide. Let me see here oh Eddie! Yes I see you getting busy out there in the hallway come on come in here." He said as he beckoned Eddie into the room.
He started shuffling through a stack of papers on his desk
"I know it's here, trust me!" He said as he looked up from his work. After a few more minutes he snatched a paper from the pile yelling "voila!" He handed the paper to Nina which was quickly snatched out of her hand by Eddie. "Wow, smart are you? I mean really 4 honors classes?" He looked at her with a dumbfounded expression. Nina got red in the face and looked down at her shoes "I got here on a scholarship so I have to do well in school." "I have to tell you that it is easier to do good in school when you aren't straining yourself so much to maintain good grades." He said as he handed the schedule back to her. "Well I suppose we have different views on the subject." She said as she snatched the schedule out of his hands.
"Shall we?" She asked him as she motioned with her eyes towards the door. "Fine let's go." He said these words then grabbed her hand and led her out the door. As she try to shake off his hand he pulled her out of the classroom and around the corner into the next hallway.
"Okay, so here's the thing. Whatever happened between us we need to figure out and these-" he started as he pulled up his sleeve to gesture at the hieroglyphs "-we have got to figure out because they hurt and I don't like black writing all over my arms." "Do you think this is easy on me? I mean I just moved here and this morning..." She trailed off looking around to make sure no one was listening in on their conversation "some old lady named Sarah came up to me and gave me this." She said as she pulled out the locket to show Eddie. "Does it open?" He asked. "Yeah and I'm pretty sure that it is just a picture of Sarah when she was younger. I have no idea why she gave it to me!" Nina said as she put her head in her hands. "Hey it's going to be okay don't worry about it." Eddie said as he pulled her into a hug.
As he let her go from the hug he removed her hands from her face and tilted her chin up to look at him. "We will get through this together. Okay? I need you as much as you need me so we are going to have to stick together." He told her. "Okay." She replied as she stared into his eyes. As Eddie began to lean in the class bell rang and they both seperated and got very red in the face. "Classes?" Nina asked. "Yeah uh sure I will um show you where your locker is." Eddie told her as he began to lead her down the corridor.
After a few more turns and hallways they arrived at a row of lockers that seemed to be very randomly placed. "How come there's nothing else down here?" Nina asked him as they arrived to their lockers. "These are the old lockers and new arrivals get them. There are now two residents who have these lockers now." Eddie told her. "And who might those be?" She asked. "You and I." He told her giving her that heart melting smile that made her face turn beet red. "So we have 7 classes every day and they are for how long each?" She asked trying to change into a different subject. "All of your class periods should be 52 minutes and you should have 3 minutes in between each class period. And then we have 30 minutes for lunch." He told her. "That's a very strange number system you have there." She told him as she giggled. "I must admit it hasn't made sense to me yet but I guess only the teachers get it." He said as he shrugged his shoulders. "So can we go to the classes yet?" Nina asked as she realized that the halls above had been silent for a while and that the bell must have gone off. "Yes I guess we should go. Unless you'd rather stay down here for a while longer." He said giving her a devilish smile. "Won't they notice us not being there?" Nina asked as her face began to blush. "Oh I'm sure that they won't mind our absence for a while, I mean what's a few more minutes?" He asked grinning. "Okay I mean uh I suppose you have a point there." Nina said as she gave a nervous laugh.
"Do I make you nervous Ms. Nina Martin?" Eddie asked her as he put his arm beside her head against the locker. "No I mean um it's not that it's just that uh.." She trailed off as she started playing with her fingers. "Are you sure?" He asked as he leaned closer. "Um well uh" she said adding a nervous laugh as she trailed off staring into his eyes. They stayed there for a while until Nina tried to ask about classes again. "What's wrong with this? Right now? I mean are you really that excited to get to class?" He asked her rolling his eyes. "No I just don't want to do something I regret." She said nervously glancing away. He moved his arm from behind her head and then grabbed her hand and pulled her close to him as he led her back to the main school where they would begin to find her classes.
"So your A period is history. B period is English/ Literature. C is chemistry. D is the arts (basically you're average drama class). E history and the fine arts appreciation. F is your study hall. And finally your G is your math class. Wow have fun with this schedule." Eddie said reading it over as if his eyes were misleading him. "I'm sure that I will do fine." Nina said rolling her eyes at him. "So are you going to show me where my classes are?" She asked him trying to be polite. "Are you sure you really wanna go to them I mean we could just ditch and then maybe I could finish what I started earlier..." He said trailing off giving her a sly smirk. She turned red and quickly mumbled through "let's uh how uh about we just uh get to the uh classes" Eddie laughed at her then proceeded down a hallway in which all you could hear was the monotonous voice of some old man. "Is this history?" Nina asked as they drew closer to a classroom. "Yeah you're just going to love Mr. March ." He told her. "What's he like?" She asked nervously. "He's about as nervous as you and he's a little old man who doesn't know how to teach and he is very naïve and a strange old geezer. His voice is excessively boring and you're going to want to die in his class... Good luck!" Eddie said as he knocked on the door.
The droning voice quit and as they walked in Nina could feel everyone's eyes on her. "And you are?" Mr. March asked her. "She's Nina Martin." Eddie interjected for her. "She's going to be in your A period into to history class, but today we are just going through her classes so I'm sorry but you won't be having her today." Eddie told me March with the authority that could be his superior. "Oh well okay. I shall see you soon Ms. Martin." Mr. March said as he waved them as they walked out the door.
"Well he was..." Nina started.
