I'm Staying

"This isn't over, you two. I'll be back!" Rex promises while being shoved into a cylinder prison.
"We'll be waiting for you." I say and Duke closes the doors to the watch tower. We walk out and I see Anna approaching. I grin and turn to Duke.
"I, uh, have to go find Snake! See ya, Duke!" I say, waving at him before walking away quickly. As I pass the med bay, I remember what Snake said on the sub. You have a few injuries yourself.
I sigh and walk into the med bay. One of the nurses come up to me. "Hello, dear. Is everything alright?"
"I just have a few cuts here and there. Nothing I can't handle." I say, smiling slightly.
"Okay. If there's anything you need, don't be afraid to ask." With that, the kind nurse walks away to help other patients. I hum to myself as I look for the things I need to tend to my wounds. I groan as I realize I can't find bandages.
I turn around to call out to the nurse when my chocolate brown eyes meet with icy blue eyes. I smile as I look at my partner, and see that he has the bandages.
"Give me those," I demand playfully.
"Nope, you have to let me help you. You've helped me twice, now it's my turn." Snake says, lifting the bandages just out of my reach. Damn my shortness.
After a few minutes of trying to get the bandages, I finally give in. "Fine! You can help me. I'm done with the pain jumping up gives me, anyway."
"See? Is me helping you so bad?" He teases. I just roll my eyes and take off my shirt, revealing my black sports bra underneath. I wince slightly as he puts ointment on my cuts, then bandages them.
"There. All done." He says after a few minutes. He helps me to put my shirt back on and we walk out of the med bay.
"So...what's gonna happen now?" I ask. Snake looks down at me, confused.
"What do you mean? Angel?" He calls as I walk towards a window to see we are on a flight carrier in the middle of the ocean. Which ocean, I do not know.
Snake comes up beside me and looks at me, concerned. "Angel?"
I don't answer him, not trusting my own voice.
"Angel? What's wrong? Evalyn?" He says my real name after a while and I look at him. I can feel my eyes water slightly.
Snake notices and instantly draws me to him, hugging me tightly. I bury my face in his neck, trying not to cry. It hit me so hard, I had no time to prepare for it.
I killed my own brother. My only family is now dead because of me.
"Shh. It's okay, it's okay. You had to, Lyn. You had to." Snake says, trying to comfort me.
"No, I could've saved all of us if we just talked. I wouldn't have had to kill him, the three of us could be together, I would still have a family." I say, sobbing into my partner's shoulder.
"Evalyn." He says sternly. I look up at him and our eyes meet. "You had no choice. He would've killed me and you if you went down that road. You did it to save us both.
"And you still have a family. You have Duke, Ripcord...and me. You have us. Team Alpha. We are all family, no matter what. So don't ever say that you don't have a family, because you are dead wrong."
I look down at the floor, then back up again at Snake, and frown. "Why did you hesitate?"
Snake looks utterly confused. "What do you mean?"
"When you were listing off names, you hesitated at your own. Why?"
Snake stutters a little. "T-that! O-oh. You caught that?"
I laugh. "Of course I did. You know that I catch even the littlest of things. So, why did you hesitate?"
Snake sighs, then looks up at me. "You really want to know?"
I nod. He takes a deep breath.
"I hesitated, because I didn't know how you would react. You know me better than anyone on this ship. You were always there for me, and when I first saw you running with the weapons case, I actually flinched when you cried out in pain.
"And when I saw it was you, I felt like the happiest person in the world. I thought that I wouldn't ever see you again after we were separated.
"I guess what I'm trying to say is that for the past few days I've been more talkative than normal and I haven't been happier since I last saw you. You make me happy, and I realized how hard I've fallen for you." He says the last part in a bit of a whisper, and my breath catches in my throat.
He likes me?! Is this really happening? I rapidly blink, and my jaw drops. I stand like that for a few seconds before I rush at him, throwing my arms around his neck.
Snake stumbles back a bit, surprised by my sudden attack. "You aren't the only one who's fallen hard." I whisper into his ear, and his arms wrap around my waist and tighten ever so slightly.
"Don't ever let me go, Snake Eyes."
"Never, Night Angel. Never."

~Time skip~

"Damn, we look badass." Ripcord says as we walk down the hallway.
"Hell yeah, we do!" I say, pumping a fist in the air. Snake laughs at my childish behavior.
"Well, you might wanna get used to it. Heavy Duty feels that you need to stay on the team, permanently." General Hawk says.
"Are you asking?" Rip asks.
"Cause that's what it sounds like!" I say.
"Alright! I'm asking." Hawk admits.
"Well, I'm in." Duke says.
"How do you feel about this?" Rip asks Scarlett.
"I feel...emotional." She replies.
"Angel?" Duke asks. I look to Snake Eyes beside me. He has a hopeful gleam in his eye. I smile and take his hand, intertwining our fingers.
"Count me in. Besides, someone has to keep this one alive," I say, motioning to Snake. "And leaving Scarlett all by herself would be a bitch move."
Everyone laughs at my statement and Snake gives me a look of mock hurt.
"I love you too, Angel." He says sarcastically.
"I know you do." I reply, giving him a smug look. He rolls his eyes, but there is a hint of a smile on his face. I lean over and kiss his cheek, causing him to blush slightly.
I smile while everyone else laughs.
"Looks like Snake Eyes has a woman." Hawk says. I give him a look.
"No, he doesn't. I'm just for show." I say sarcastically, while smiling like an idiot. We board a plane for a new mission. I hear over the loud speaker, "Good luck, Joes." and we're off on the mission. I sit next to Snake and lean my head on his shoulder. He wraps an arm around my waist and brings me closer. I turn to look at the rest of our teammates.
"So, what's the situation?"
Heavy smirks and I know that this mission will be quite interesting.

Hell yeah.
