It's ten fifteen at night and she hasn't come back yet.
Now I'm just pissed off at everyone for not letting me go after her.
I'm pissed off at Caleb for fucking me up so I couldn't go after her, and I'm pissed off at myself for not ignoring them and going after her anyways.
I'm sitting up, staring at the front door with my arms crossed.
We ordered pizza.
I'm getting worried, so I dial her and put it on speaker.
Everyone listens.
It rings once and then makes a weird beepng noise.
A machine answers and says, "We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. If you feel you have reached this recording in error, please check the area code and the number, and try your call again."
"What the fuck?" I say loudly, panicked as I hang up the phone.
Everyone starts to panic at once, myself included.
Oh my god.
Caleb got her.
He fucking has her.
I knot my fingers in my hair.
"Alright, everyone just calm down!" Mrs. Juniper says."Try calling her house."
I dial her house in panic.
It beeps again and says, "We're sorry, yu have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. If you feel you have reached this recording in error, please check the area code and the number, and try your call again."
I hang up and force myself up.
"Nick." Dad warns.
I ignore him.
I haven't gotten up once today except to pee, and I feel so much better than I have. The doctor said that normally after two days of people having their appendix removed, they're normally up and walking around with mild pains. He said the reason I'm still in pain is because of the stab wound.
I grab my car keys.
"Nicholas Benjamin Noelle!" Dad says in his loud stern voice.
I ignore him and head for the door.
"Nick!" mom says.
"Try and stop me!" I snap. "Who knows what she's out there doing? That fucker probably got away or something, her phones are disconnected. I was a fool for listening to you guys and not going after her the second she shut the door!"
I rip the front door open just as a taxi pulls up to the house.
I stop and stare.
Evelynne gets out and shuts the door, and walks up the grass.
Where the hell...
She plucks my car keys from my hand as she passes me.
"Where the hell have you been?" I ask. "Both of your phones are disconnected! Why are you getting out of a taxi?"
"I'm moving." She says. "I sold the house and left my phone plan and started another one and I sold the car and I'm moving."
"I'm going with you." I say.
She helps me back to the couch.
"I can't be here anymore. I spend every second worried he's coming after me, and since he hurt you...I'm just not willing to risk it. I don't want to live looking over my shoulder."
