It's March 21st. The year flew by and today is Nick and I's one year anniversary. We moved to Colorado with the entire family.
He's all healed up and I'm so in love with him.
Everyone is at a park and he's playing tackle football with all the guys in the family.
I'm talking to Ivy, his little sister.
Someone taps my shoulder.
I turn around.
A gasp escapes my throat when I see Nick standing behind me wit a Saint Bernard Puppy.
I gasp.
"Oh my god!"
"For you." He hands the puppy to me.
He's grinning from ear to ear as I pet the puppy, excited.
Everyone is standing around, watching.
"Happy anniversary baby." He kisses my lips. "Check out his collar. I had it specially made."
I move his hair to check the collar.
It looks like just a simple collar.
He probably meant the tags.
I move the collar so I can see the tags, and there's a diamond ring attached to it with a bow.
I gasp.
Everyone must've known he was gonna do it because they're already recording.
Fuck!
He unties the ring and gets down on one knee.
One of my hands is over my mouth and I'm crying and the other one is holding the dog up.
He drops down to one knee.
"Evelynne, every second I've spent with you has been the best of my life. I'm beyond ready to spend more with you. Will you marry me?"
I start nodding like crazy.
"Yes." I sniffle. "Oh god, yes."
He takes my left hand and slides the ring on, and then stands up.
I hug him the best I can with the puppy.
"Now come here! I gotta show you something. Guys, we'll be back."
He scoops me and the puppy in his arms and takes off running.
He sets me in his car and takes off.
We start to drive into the mountains in Boulder.
He brings me onto a property.
"We're in the middle of nowhere." I say.
"No. There's a house down the road. Our soon-to-be neighbor."
"What?"
"Let's build our house. Right here."
"What?" I laugh.
He doesn't blink.
"I'm serious."
"Babe..." I trail off, looking around. "Do we need this much land? This is a lot to mow."
"Come on." He takes my hand and we start to walk.
We walk to a lake.
"It's an entire acre of water. We can build a dock and get jet skis and canoes. The water is crystal clear and it's a hundred feet deep."
There's a part where the land raises and it makes a cliff with a thirty foot drop and there's a tree handing over the edge.
"We could tie a rope to that tree." He says. "Think about it. That dingy park will no longer be the place for family functions. Rain won't stop us. Our house will be the place with multiple parking spots and a giant house and a large property."
I hesitate.
"And when do you want to start building this?"
"The second the blueprints are done."
I sigh heavily.
"Do you know how hard this is gonna be? To build a house and plan a wedding and still work?"
"Then for the next week, we plan the wedding, get married next Saturday, rent a house nearby, spend six months building the house, and move in."
"Are you serious?" I ask.
"I'm dead serious."
I sigh.
"At least think about it. There's no need to make a rushed-"
I kiss him.
He stops talking, confused, and kisses me back.
It's no secret that I'm obsessed with his lips. Six months ago I didn't kiss him that much. He would just kiss my cheek or something when anyone was around, but now I can't keep my hands off him. I'm always touching him or kissing his neck, shoulder, cheek...anywhere my lips can touch, I'll kiss it. He thinks it's adorable and the family is used to me being clingy.
It's because of him being stabbed and me almost losing him.
I know it is.
We've never had sex and we've gotten as far as him taking my shirt off, but he's never seen my breasts and he's never seen me in my panties.
I've of course seen him completely naked, but I've never seen him hard.
He's long as hell when he's not hard.
I pull away.
"We're getting marred next Saturday." I whisper, running my fingers through his hair.
He grins.
"Let's go plan our wedding."
