Nick and I bought that property for the house and we all ended up on it.
I'm standing in a black bikini peering over the thirty foot cliff down into the clear water.
"Alright guys, someone has to get the balls to climb out onto this branch and tie the rope.I take it from his hand.
"Someone aside from my fiancé." Nick says.
I roll my eyes and just climb the tree and it's not until I'm dangling by a branch over nothing but water, that I start to panic.
"Hey babe?" I ask calmly.
"Yeah?"
"How deep is this water right under me?"
"I don't know." He says.
"So it could be like five feet?"
"Well...yeah." He says.
"Fuck." I whisper to myself. "I'm gonna die."
"I'll jump first." He takes a step forward.
"Nicholas Benjamin Noelle!" I gasp.
He stops short.
I've never called him by his full name before.
"You better not fucking jump!"
He sighs.
"Alright, alright."
I tie the rope tightly.
"Alright, now get down." He says.
I'm going to sacrifice myself incase it's really shallow and someone I love jumps and dies.
"Okay." I say.
I let go.
NICK'S POV
I don't even have a chance to tell her not to jump before she lets go.
Everyone gasps, panicked, and rushes to the edge of the cliff.
We watch as her small body hits the water.
My hands are clenched in fits.
I can see her going down and down. That's how clear the water is.
But she swims back up and her head breaks the surface.
"Are you okay?"
"It's fucking cold!" she shouts up to me.
Grinning, I backflip off the side of the cliff.
I land right next to her, and plummet down.
I swim to the surface and turn to her.
"It's cold. Oh fuck, I'm getting out!"
"Aww!" I whine.
EVE'S POV
I'm honestly so happy in my life right now. We're sitting at Nick's house because it started raining and he's scrolling through his newsfeed on Facebook.
"Hey Lynne?" Miranda says quietly.
I look at her.
"Caleb is out of jail."
My entire body tenses.
"No." I say. You're kidding, right?"
She sighs.
"I'm not. And he posted a video on Facebook." She says. "And he's asking people to tag you."
Nick stopped scrolling.
The only thing that could ruin everything right now is him.
"He posted it thirty minutes ago and it's gone viral. I think you might want to see this."
She hands me her laptop.
Everyone crowd's around me.
I'm in Nick's lap and my hand is around his tightly.
I press play.
"Hey...so...I'm Caleb, and I just got out of rehab. I was in prison, but I tried to kill myself so they sent me to rehab. I'm kind of a fuck up." He says. "See, I went to prison for abusing my ex girlfriend, who was my girlfriend at the time, and then breaking into her house six months later and stabbing her boyfriend. I know, I'm a piece of shit."
My jaw is clenched so tightly.
I don't even want to watch this, but it's almost like a TV show that you hate so much but have to watch it to find out what happens.
"I loved her, and I still do. I hate myself for hurting her, both physically and mentally, but most of all, I hate myself for stabbing her boyfriend. That guy treats her way better than I ever did, and if he died, I don't know what she'd do. We'd been together since freshmen year, and I can't figure out why she stuck with me for so long. I mean, the first month into our relationship, I convinced her that her best friend was a crazy bitch and she pushed her away. The only reason I didn't do the same with the other one was because I thought she was hot."
"Ew." Holly mutters. "What a nasty ass."
"I harassed her. I beat her. I destroyed her, and she met a guy and he came in and he saved her. He lifted her up and made her the best she could be. For that, I am thankful. They're engaged now. Her dreams came true, and I'm here, alone, without her. Now, I know you're all thinking I'm here to apologize, but I'm not. Actually, I'm not really sorry. I mean, I know I messed up, but that guy took her from me. And she's mine. So...he got what he deserved, and she kind of did too. I didn't beat her for nothing. I mean, we got into a fight that night and she got what she deserved. So I'm going after her. I'm going to find her, and I'm going to take her. I don't care if it's by force."
He slams a handgun on the table.
"And if I have to put a bullet through her fucking fiancé, I'll do it. Tag her. Her name is Evelynne Juniper."
The screen goes black.
Oh.
Oh my god.
Nick is in danger.
"Baby," Nick starts, almost like he's reading my mind.
I hand him the ring and run.
