The lights were out. The room was quiet. The faucet was running. And Chad stood in front of the mirror of the Rangers' bathroom. Behind him, the other Rangers stood behind him. He had lit the candle and spun around three times. Carter stepped forward and touched the mirror and linked hands with the other Rangers.
Confidently, Chad began the chant. "Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary." He repeated.Moments passed with no response from the spirit. They continued to stare until the silence was broken. "Maybe you didn't say it enough times." Kelsey suggested.
Chad began the chant once more, this time saying it 13 times. Again, no response. Grinning Carter shook his head. "See? I told you." He said, "It was just a legend."
Joel looked at Carter with doubt on his face. "Oh come on now Carter." He said, "There's no way you knew that it was 'Just a myth'. What would you have done if she had appeared?"
"I don't know. But she didn't." Carter replied.
With that, Carter blew out the candle, turned off the faucet and switched the lights on. They vacated the restroom and returned to their quarters. "So let's see. That marks 5 challenges we've done that shows that most supernatural elements are fictional." Carter noted.
"Well what about Queen Bansheera and Olympius?" Dana asked, "Have you forgotten about them?"
"Yeah, and all the demons that they sent after us?" Joel agreed, "Surely you didn't forget about them?"
"I haven't forgotten about them. But there's proof about their existence. We've seen and fought them." Carter replied, "All these challenges and rituals you guys keep doing in your spare time have no evidence of ever actually working. All that's there is legends and myths. Stories."
The other Rangers just stared at Carter. How could he not believe these things? Some of them may turn out to be true! Before anything else could be said, the alarm went off, signaling another training session for them. The Demon Army may have been defeated, but Mariner Bay still needed protection. They hurried to the docking bay and jumped into the Rescue Rover.
Training Facility
The Rangers pulled up to the training facility in little time. Captain Mitchell and Ms. Fairweather waited by a table with moniters and all sorts of training gear resting on it. Captain Mitchell pulled out his stopwatch and started it as the Rangers took off.
First came the obstacle course set up for Chad and Joel. They climbed and leaped over walls, crawled under low fences, and rushed through tires as fast as they could go. Captain Mitchell stopped the timer for them and glanced at it. "1 minute and 25 seconds. Not bad." He informed. The moment the Captain turned away, as they had done before, Chad and Joel doubled over from exhaustion. Next, the Captain timed Kelsey and Dana's medical tests. Dana grabbed the dummy inside the burning building and escorted it to the balcony where Kelsey was waiting. The two attatched a rope and a clip around it's waist and repelled down the balcony. Upon landing they escorted the dummy out to the 'safe zone'. Captain Mitchell stopped the timer. "1 minute and 40 seconds." He reported, "Excellent job."
In a clearing, Ryan was locked in combat with two instructors. He disabled one of them by flipping him to the ground and a swift chop to the stomach. Spinning he used a leg sweep to take out the other. When the next two charged, he blocked various attacks before landing powerful kicks to both of them. Once more, the timer stopped. "1 minute and 20 seconds. Good." He said.
Inside the warehouse, Carter was in target practice. Wooden replicas of monsters would pop up only to be shot down by Carter and his paint gun. Once he stepped outside, the timer was stopped. "54 seconds. Excellent work." He congratulated.
Captain Mitchell went in and examined the shooting area. All targets had been splattered with green paint. No paint had been hit on the walls or containers. Captain Mitchell smiled to himself. 'He finally learned to be aware' He mused. Stepping outside he found all six Rangers standing at attention. "Good job today." He called, "Rangers: dismissed. Technician crew: dismissed."
Ms. Fairweather nodded and turned to her team. "Lets get this cleaned up." She ordered.
