Broken and Bruised

Chapter 6

"Thanks", i said to Harley as i grabbed my suitcase and threw it into the trunk of the car. We are going to the beach for summer break. I've been living at the pack house for a few months now and school is finally over and i feel so excepted in the pack.

"No problem", Harley said as he kissed my cheek and opened he door so i could get into the car.

"I'm so excited. I hope we meet some cool people", screeched Kira from behind the drivers seat.

"We will not be lolly gagging with a bunch of humans. That's all we need this summer. Remember what happened last year?", Alpha scolded her. This suddenly sparked my interest as to what had happened. Maybe i could just ask Harley later tonight.

"We are here", Alpha said as we pulled into a long driveway filled with cobblestone pavement and flowers leading up to a mansion deep in the woods. You could feel and hear the sea breeze not too far off to the north. I was so excited i nearly tripped jumping out of the car. Luckily i was securely caught in strong arms that belonged to the one and only Harley.

"Thanks", i mumbled looking up into those breathe taking eyes he had.

"Be careful princess", he said with a soft chuckle as 'teenage dirt bag' by Wheatus blared from the speakers of the car.

 "Here you go", Alpha said handing me my suitcases to me interrupting out moment.

"Thanks", Harley and I said in unison.

We awkwardly stumbled inside with our suitcases in our hands. "Jesus fucking balls. What do you carry in these things?", Harley said as he placed our suitcases on the floor near the door.

"What to do", i said as i looked around at the huge house. It had creme walls and gorgeous deep brown couches. Out of the corner of my eye, i spotted a dark colored, spiral staircase. I darted to them. Soon, i heard footsteps following. Harley. I smelled him.

"What are you doing little missy?", Harley questioned as he grabbed me by my waist and pulled me close to his chest.

"i want to take a nap", i said as i pulled away from him. "Care to join?".

"Sure thing princess", he said hopping in bed with me and cuddling up into the blankets to fall fast asleep with me.

 I awoke to familiar, muscular arms around me. I quietly turned to face Harley to see if he was awake. I was right. "Hey handsome, how'd you sleep?".

  "Pretty good thanks to you", he said kissing my forehead.

   "Awe", i squealed hopping out of bed to look out the window.

   "Anything good out-", he started, but stopped mid-sentence to look at something out the window.

   "I hear them", I said realizing that he heard the familiar sound of people's last screams as something attacked them.

    "We need to tell the others", Harley said as he grabbed his phone and something in a black glass bottle and grabbed my hand and pulled me down the stairs with him.

    "They can't hear them?", i asked reaching the bottom of the steps.

     "Hear what', asked Kira.

     "They're here", was all Harley said as Kira pulled a long sword from behind her back.

      "Let's go. But Harley, you need to keep her safe...she doesn't know what the Kanimas can do", Alpha said as we got into the rusty old jeep and headed toward the noises.

      We stopped in front of a dark assortments of trees. The forest. I was the first to hop out from the jeep toward the noises, of course i was stopped by a firm hand on my shoulder. Harley. "Wait", he whispered.

     I nodded as all the others went in first. Harley grabbed by hand and i followed him into the trees, he stopped by the entrance and i watched as he dumped a trail of the black dust onto the lining of the forest. "What it is?", i asked looking at him as he placed the black bottle back into his back pocket.

   "Mountain Ash. We can't get out until someone human breaks it. We have to catch up with the others, come on.", he said setting off at a jog as i followed close behind.

  "Is everyone okay?", Alpha asked as we looked down at the defeated chimera on the cold ground before us.

  "Wow.", I said as i slowly walked around the large beast.

  "Careful, it still has poison in it", Harley said as he grabbed my hand and pulled it away from the shaking teeth.

  "Ok.", i said as I started to walk back toward the mountain ash barrier, where we entered.
