Broken and Bruised

Chapter 7

  Once we broke  the mountain ash barrier and got back into the vehicles, we all decided that we need more protection around the pack house. The drive back to the summer house was quiet. No one dared to speak, afraid to break the silence first, we all just sat while the driver did his job of driving.

  As i got out of the jeep, I walked toward the house not wanting  to wait for everyone else. I was hungry and i could not be interrupted by someone. I ran into the kitchen not caring to close the front door i had just entered. I opened the drawer to find the cheese puffs. i sat on the counter and waited for everyone else to come inside. Harley was first, then Kira, then Malia, next followed Alpha and Luna. I threw the cheese puffs back into where i found them and let my feet dangle off the edge of the counter top. 

  "Hey. I need to talk to you", Kira said as she walked into the kitchen.

  "Okay. About what?", I asked as i hopped off the counter top and found my way to the living room.

  "Scott. He's needs us, all of us. We need to go find him because honestly he is the most important part of this pack. He brings everyone together. I want you to come with me when  I go to find him.", she said sitting on the chair beside me.

  "Why me? And why do we need to go find him? Why is he lost and why does it seem that everyone tells everyone everything, but me.", i asked.

  "Cait, there is so much you don't know about yourself. You are the key to everything. You can make anything happen. But that comes with consequences. Everyone is out to get you. Look Scott means the world to me, but it would also mean the world to me if you could help me save my world.", she said with pleading, watering eyes.

  "When do we leave?", i asked. I was going to help Kira as much as possible, but at what cost?

  "Tonight. Alpha and Luna already know , but it is your job to tell your mate.

  I walked down the hallway one step at a time. Everything was so slow. Almost too slow. It was scary, it didn't seem real. I finally reached the door and raised my fist ready to knock, but before i could knock, Harley answered the door. "Hey. What's wrong?", e asked looking me up and down as if to see if i was hurt in anyway.

  "I need to leave", was all i said as i walked into his room and sat on his bed as he followed me over.

  "What do you mean leave?", he asked sitting next to me on the edge of his bed.

  "Kira asked me to help her find Scott. She said i was the key to everything. I want to help her Harley, but i don't want to get hurt. She said we need to leave tonight.", i said looking into his eyes.

  "Look Cait, i don't want you to go get hurt. I'd be fucking devastated. I know you know how to handle yourself, but where you are going gets dangerous. And it can get out of control. I just care too much about you for you to be hurt.", he said pulling me to his lap and kissing my forehead gently.

  "I love you.", i started, "but i need to go".

  "I know you do. You need to help Kira because we need Scott back.", Harley said as he gently removed me from his lap.

  "I'm going to go talk to Kira about tonight, but i the mean time, start packing", he said and walked out the door.

  

  Two hours have passed and it was nearing dinner time. I finished packing my suitcase and was laying on my bed with Harley next to me rubbing my back. "Are you going to be okay?", he questioned as he stopped rubbing my back and sat up pulling me with him.

  "Yes. I promise i won't be too log. Kira said if all goes right the trip should only last a week or two. We have to go to the desert and visit the Skin Walkers. Then, from there they help lead us to Scott, next thing you know we will be home", i assured him with a smile.

  "Well come on let's get dinner. You have a long week to prepare for", he said as we got off of the bed and walked down the stairs to the kitchen to meet everyone for dinner.

  "Glad you could finally join us", Luna greeted us as Harley and me sat down in out chairs next to each other and dug into our food.

  "So Cait, are you packed to go?", Kira questioned me.

  "Uh, yeah. Are you?", i asked.

  "As i will ever be", she responded with a slight smile to her face and went back to eating her dinner.

  "So Stiles, are you excited for Scott to be coming back?", Alpha questioned the anxious looking Stiles.

   "Excited? No. Terrified, Out of my mind, Nervous, Worried, Troubled. Anything except excited.", Stiles said looking at his plate with his hands starting to shake.

  "Why is this?", the concerned male asked.

  "I don't know okay?", Stiles screamed across the tab;e, pushed his chair back and stormed up the stairs to a unknown destination.

  "I got it", Malia said as she stood up gesturing for Alpha to sit back down as he had also got up from his seat wanting to follow Stiles.

  "Alright", Alpha said and sat back down in his seat.

  "Cait, it's time. Go get your bag",Kira said and i obeyed by her rules.

  

"I'm ready, i said to everyone as i came scooting down the stairs with my two small luggage bags on hand.

 "You sure you have everything?", Harley asked.

  "Yes. I'm sure.", i said with a slight chuckle in my voice.

  "Okay.", Harley said.

 "Safe travels.", Alpha and Luna said as I turned to follow Kira out the door.

  "Wait.", Harley said holding the door so it wouldn't shut between us, "I love you.", he said then kissed me like he had never kissed me before. This kiss held so much passion and i thought to myself how much that we will miss each other as i broke the kiss between us.

  "I love you too.", i replied then shut the door between us and followed Kira out to her truck and hopped in realizing that i would soon return with the infamous Scott McCall.
