Broken and Bruised

Chapter 9

  I woke up and looked around to hear familiar beeping of a machine. The hospital .

  "You're awake", a voice said as i opened my eyes to see Harley grinning down at me.

  "What happened?", i questioned him as i tried to sit up , but it was to no avail.

  "Well, you had an anxiety attack. You fainted and you went into a coma for about a week. I've been so worried about you, i didn't know if you were going to make it", he said tearing up.

  "Well I am okay now and that is all that matters", i said wiping his tears away.

  "Kira, Scott, Alpha", i said as  i saw the three figures standing in front of me.

  "Hey, ready to go home', Scott asked picking up some bags, I'm guessing of what had my clothes in them,  and raised an eyebrow.

  "Thanks', i said to Harley as he helped me out of the white hospital bed.

  "Welcome home!", i heard a voice as it awoke me from my slumber, i moped out of the old jeep and up the steps of the house.

  "Feels good to be back", i said and slumped on the couch.It has been two weeks since i have been at the vacation home, after i had my anxiety attack, they cut the trip short and resorted home to make sure i  came out of the coma alright. I felt awfully responsible for ruining the trip , but it was their choice in the long run.

  "So how are you?", Lydia asked.

  "i've been better, i just feel like Harley is getting really distant lately", i said looking down at my feet.

  "Oh, honey. He cares so much about you it's crazy! Don't think like that. Plus you haven't been near him the whole time, that boy would die for you", she said grabbing my hand for reassurance.

  "Thank you Lydia", i started, "but i am going to see what he is up to".

  "Babe?", i asked as i entered our dark room. When i heard no answer, i looked over to the window and saw that it was wide open. I walked over to it and saw the note, it read,

Dear the love of my life,

  i know this will be hard for you to read but I had to leave. I did it for you. You need to learn how to fight on your own and I was simply holding you back from doing so. Please don't come looking for me I will come back when it's time.

As I put down the note, I felt my knees come weak and the room spin. I didn't want to believe this was real. I grabbed the note and raced out of my room in search of Alpha.
I turned the corner to his office and tried my hardest to slow my breathing. When I began to control my ragged breathing, I finally mustered up the courage to knock on the hard wooden door. Just as I was about to knock on the door, it opened and I saw a frantic looking Alpha.
"What's wrong?", he asked gesturing me to enter his office.
"Harley. He's gone. He left me this note about how he thought he would get in my way of learning and fighting. What did I do wrong?", I finished with tears forming in my eyes, blurring my vision, and thoughts racing through my mind.
"He'll come back when the times right. Until then, you'll just have to wait and see. I know it will be hard because you do love him very much, but just try and focus on your training and well being as of now. Make yourself stronger both mentally and physically and maybe he will come back sooner", Alpha finished and I let his information sink in.
  "But what if he doesn't come back? What's going to happen then? Who's going to help solve all these outrageous supernatural happenings?", I asked letting a few tears slip from eyes.

  "He will come back in time. You cannot fret about this. He did this for a good reason. you need to learn how to protect yourself and his being around will only make you weaker.", Alpha spoke and i let his words sink in.

  "I get it", was all i said with a thank you and exited the office. I needed to do what was right for the both of us and continue my training without Harley for a distraction. That's what i did.
