The Jungle

It's like a jungle. So many various species in one place, each mingling with those of the same style, thoughts, humour and interests, not bothering to give anyone outside their group a second look.

The main species are obvious. First is the Jaguars. A powerful animal standing on thick legs and thick chest, showing the defined muscles which many have taken time to build. The Jaguars devours almost anything which stands in their path. With such dominance the Jaguars are obviously the pack leaders. We call these the jocks.

Secondly are the Snakes. They hold much less power than the jaguars. Their body is slimy, elongated and they have a highly mobile jaw which will spread gossip fiercely. Snakes are unable to bite or tear, but will swallow you whole; it's best not to offend the Snakes. They are sneaky and malicious, if somehow you become a Snakes problem, you have no chance of making it out alive. We call these the cheerleaders.

The middlemen as I like to call them are the Lemurs. Their ability to adapt has given them a level of diversity that rivals that of all other groups. They are socially active and you'll often see a group of 15 individuals together; individuals being the key word here. Due to their social able nature they are hospitable to those outside their group and welcome them. However all Lemurs experience some predation pressure, most avoid areas where predators may be found however others attack the predators head on. The predators being the Jaguars and Snakes.

Finally you have the Duikers (a form of antelope). You are probably thinking 'but most Duikers don't live in the jungle?', and that is my point. They are the outcasts, they don't belong, this isn't their natural habitat. Duikers are shy, elusive creatures with a fondness of dense covers. They have no real defence except camouflage and stillness, this makes them an easy target for the Snakes. The Duikers are more commonly known as the nerds, goths, anyone that isn't socially acceptable according to the Jaguars.

Now you're probably wondering where I, Elizabeth Reed, child of Deborah Reed, an internationally known clothes designer and Mark Reed, a surgeon to those of more than a substantial amount of wealth, fit into a public college. To tell the truth, I have no idea.

"Dude, look at the girl talking to herself. Crazy." The deep masculine voice emphasises the word 'crazy'. Great, I haven't even spent 1 hour in this place and people already think I'm crazy.

I really should stop narrating out loud.

A/N

Hey guys!

Initially I wasn't going to authors notes but I think they're actually quite cute. So I'm adding this in.

I'm currently at my friends, she owns an amazing house with so much land, so 20 of us camped out last night, and we had a bonfire, marshmallows and Jesse brought a guitar so we had some music too. I didn't sleep until like 4am so I'm so tired but were still here at 2pm eating trifle and soaking up the sun!

So first chapter, this is just an introduction to the college. Girl/boy action in the next chapter.

Will probably upload next week. I'm new to this so tell me if I'm doing anything wrong!
