I struggled with my gown. My hair didn't agree to work with me, just being imperfect in a lot of ways. My head turned to the knocked door,

"come in." I said

"the car is here." mother came in bring a small valvet blue box in her hand.

"I want you to have this. Wear it before you go. I want you to have it . It's your first official ball. I wore it when I went to mine." she said as she revealed the beautiful necklace that dropped to my chest when I wore it.

"it's real diamond. It's from grandma if you don't mind bringing it safe back." she said as she hook it on me and take one long last look at me.

I was attending a masquerade ball and it was snowing down up here in London. My mask was of white and gold, my dress is of sleeveless skin colour linning and white lace from collar to chest, under my bust of black strip ribbon, and white lining topped with golden French lace.

"thanks mother. This means much."

My name is Sapphire Alexandrine Mackayla, 17, daughter to one of the rich.

I walked to the open car and the ride was silent and still, I did not move, not did I had a date, so the last thing I wanted was to look messed up.

"can I park right infront the door this time, Alex?" my driver/bodyguard/talking friend said.

"okay joe. But just this time." I let out a small chuckle.

My mask was on my face by the time jow walked around the car to open my door.

"thank you."i smiled.

I walked down the stairs adjusting to the heated room after walking in from the winter night.

My eyes scanned the room. Masked face. Masked face. Masked face.

"I need a drink." I whispered to myself.

I walk towards the waiter and gestured to him my needs.

"make that two, please, kind sir." a husky voice appeared beside me.

"here you go." mystery mysterious man said as he hands me my cocktail.

"thank you." I said as I leave to find myself a good place to sit.

"just a minute." he said as he grabbed my arm almost revealing my face, unmasked.

"dont you recognise anymore-"he stopped, leaning in.

"sapphire?"

I gasped. Both shocked at his acknowledgement of my name and also as to why am I following a stranger to where he had gestured, the balcony.

The balcony was crowded so he decided to yet again, pull me to a smaller balcony.

"it's me, Alex, Liam?" he said as he removed his mask and run his fingers through his blond hair.

"goodness, li, you shocked me and almost revealed my identity!" I whispered-scream.

"sorry, bad habit."he chuckled.

"what? You turned blond over autumn?"I gestured his hair and he let out a dark chuckle.

"being ginger isn't exactly fun in uni, what more royal." he said.

I couldn't resist my brother( I've taken him as one considering I've spent most of my life living next door to him) and I scooched nearer into a hug.

"I've missed you."

"miss you too sam." he said as he practically squeezed my not so small body, but small beside him.

"it's been long since I've been called Sam."
