A foreign sound rang through the air, startling me awake. I tried to sit up, or roll over, or move at all and I couldn't. My body was in too much pain. Heart racing, I opened my mouth to scream. After a few tries I called out for help. I felt the bed shake and suddenly Aaron was next to me.
"What is it? What's wrong," Aaron said panicking.
"I can't move. It hurts. Aaron it hurts," I sobbed out.
"Oh my God. Oh my God. Okay um hold on." With that he was up and scurrying around the room. Within a minute he was fully clothed and about to pick me up. "This may hurt. Actually this will hurt. We have to slip your shorts on." After the slow and painful dressing, he carried me to his car. We sped down the streets toward what I assumed was the hospital.
"Wait Aaron. You'll get in trouble. You're my teacher."
"Don't worry about it. Lil, you are my top priority right now. We will figure out a story later." We pulled up to the Emergency Room and came to a stop. Slamming the door, he hurried and picked me up. Luckily there was valet so he threw them the keys, got our ticket, and went in. As we walked in I was put in a wheelchair and gave them all my information. My heart hurt almost as much as my body. My father was going to be heart broken.

"Alright so you have two cracked ribs and some extremely bad bruising. Nothing too serious or permanent. We will write you a prescription for some pain pills and you'll be on your way," the doctor informed Aaron and me. After a couple hours they finally got back to us with what was wrong. Just as the doctor finished my dad burst into the room.
"Lillian, what happened? Are you okay? I'm so sorry sweetie. I should've been home," my father rushed out at once.
My face grew dark as I mumbled, "Your wife did it again. You're right. You should have. Ali saw it this time."
"Wha...what? Oh God," he said running his hands through his hair. It was like with that he suddenly noticed Aaron in the room. "And who are you?"
"Hello, Sir. I'm Aaron Forbes. I'm Lillian's teacher."
"And how did you end up being the one to take her to the hospital?" My heart picked up. We hadn't made a plan yet and I thought for sure we were going to be busted.
"On Thursday morning she came to school with her cheek very bruised. I noticed and gave her my number just in case there was an emergency. She called me this morning when she couldn't move. I called you as soon as we got here." Relief flooded through my body. I was pretty sure he would believe that, and it was true for the most part.
"I see. Well you can go now. This is a family matter," Father stated gruffly.
"Of course, sir." Turning to me he said, "Lillian I'll see you on Monday." With a flash of his dazzling smile, he was gone. My heart felt slightly empty as if part of it left with him. My father didn't say anything to me for the rest of the time. Pretty soon we were on our way home. There was an awkward silence as I didn't know what to say. He was right. He should've been home. He's been aware of the abuse for ages but never put a stop to it. It wasn't right and he should blame himself. When we got home, I got out and hobbled to the door. I knew I couldn't get up the stairs to my room, so I just went to the guest room. I laid on the four poster bed. The room was a soft baby blue. It looked like a nursery because at one point I was going to have a baby brother. He was stillborn so the room is now a guest room. The frame was white with brown sheets. Breathing deeply I tried not to move. Eventually I fell asleep despite the screaming I heard from the living room. The only thing on my mind though, was Aaron.
